Nice car! If you want to add it to the registry for 69 340s and 383s, shoot me a picture of the fender tag. Cool color too, as I am assuming T5.

Welcome, and once again, nice car! Give it a bath, knock the cobwebs off of it and drive it!

With respect to your car, they are only original once. Fluff and buff in my opinion.

very nice find. good luck with it & welcome from another 69 S owner:)

Welcome, and I agree with 69Cudafan, only do as much as necessary and leave the rest as fricken awesome as it is now!! That's a damn cool car!! Geof

Sweet looking......leave it alone, don't restore!
Is it T5 or T7? Is it original paint?

Looks early built.....no headrests
Does it have black button door handles?
Does it have medium or long reverse light housings?
Would like to see tag pic or codes

Nice car. This was mine when I picked it up. Just a 318 car, now sporting a big block.

Doesn't look like it needs a resto. Just a detail should do ! Very nice ride good luck with it.

Many thanks for all the encouragement as well as sharing pics and stories of your cars! Let me see if I can cover all the questions ya'll had...

The paint is original. I am convinced it is T5 "Bronze Fire" but I cannot find a fender tag decoding site that decodes paint and interior codes. My tag reads:

M31 R21 V7W END
G11 G33 J25 L31 M21 M25
A01 A04 A06 A53 A62 B51
T5 T5 H4W X9 827 069023
E55 D32 BH29 P9B 112785

I believe the car is an early 69. It doesn't have headrests (I thought they became mandatory in '68?), it has black outside door handle buttons, short reverse light housings (I think) and a build date code of 827 on the fender tag. The VIN sequence number seems low (112785) but I don't know much about those numbers.

I would certainly agree that this car would make an AMAZING survivor. However, the car sat for long periods of it's life. The suspension and brakes are mechanically worn out and the motor will not make any compression (I suspect seized/cracked rings).

I bought it from the only Navy buddy I still managed to keep in regular contact with. (Calling him and old Navy buddy is ridiculous. The man is like a brother to me). He bought it from a family member of the original owner (who had passed away). When I title the car, I will be the third owner. I promised my buddy I would restore it back to original... with some slight mods for performance and safety... but it would stay aesthetically stock.

Here are some more pics that may clear up some details.

Yep T5 is Bronze Fire, and it is on the fender tag. Mine is actually T7 Saddle Bronze which is darker but can look the same in pictures depending on the light.

Well, here are some things to help you document the car:

You have an early (Aug 27) scheduled production date (SPD). That is the 827 on the fender tag.

The car is a 340-S (some people refer to it as a Forumula S). That is the A53 code. It was a handling and appearance package that included HD suspension, tail panel blackout and emblem, and black grilles. Also the fold down rear seat was optional. The lack of headrests and the black buttons on your door handles are sometimes associated with early production 1969s, as they switched to full chrome sometime around January of 1969.

From your picture, it looks like you might have the medium length back up housings. The short ones are VERY short.

I have Galen's white book at home, but here is a site with production numbers
http://www.plymouthbarracuda.net/information/1969-barracuda-production.shtml

Car is one of 1,431 340-S cars, with no breakdown between Fastback and Notchback, 4 speed or auto.
