Hello all - just purchased a semi-project 72 Duster - six cylinder. Always been a mopar fan, first mopar was a 1969 1/2 M code super bee owned in the 70's and 80's - should have kept it. The 72 has a very solid body, runs and drives but needs ball joints, interior cosmetics, etc. Still has original paint, needs trunk pan and a little rust in the usual spot on quarter panels but that is it. Question is, should I make a good driver of it or work toward installing a V8 - really leaning toward a V8 but realize that requires starting at the back and going forward. Any insights would be appreciated. I look forward to this forum for resources and advice and hope to contribute. Thanks!

Joined a week or so ago, was asked to post pics. These are the pics we took when we picked up the car. Needs a lot of work but very very solid, only needs a trunk pan and some work on the rear quarters. The real question is to restore to a good driver leaving the / 6 in the car, or do a resto mod with a V8? Have not found a reasonable deal on a 340 yet... all advice and comments appreciated.

Well, what is your skill level and would you be happy driving around the /6?

Guessing since you mentioned you haven't found a 340 yet that you are headed towards a V-8 conversion, just drive the /6 till you find that right priced 340.

Looks like a clean ride!

Check out the Magnum section. The 5.2 or 5.9 magnums are pretty plentiful. The 340 is a premium priced engine and hard to find in some areas.

Nice Plain Jane! 440 maybe?
