No oil pressure with remote filters

-
I added one to my truck. I used 3/4 (-12AN) pushlok hose and Aeroquip fittings.
I chose this mount ‘cause it uses all -12 ORB ports.

And a decently sized filter.

So, for those of us that know nothing about those setups......what was it?
I got the lines backwards. from looking g at it I had the feed as the one closest to the center. after a little reading; having the lines backwards can't work since the filters have a one way bypass. So I was trying to shove oil in the "out".

I got nylon braided hose because I just don't like how bad normal an lines look after a while. they're super soft and still have a couple strands of aluminum to hold shape but you won't get stabbed cutting them
I gotchya. When I was asst manager at O'Reilly, I helped a guy make a remote filter setup. He didn't like the braided AN hoses so I made him up some from some 4 wire hydraulic hose and fittings. He said he had to fight the hose like HELL to get all the fittings on the hoses were so stiff but he said they don't leak a drop. You're talkin about minimum burst pressures around 12,000 - 16,000 PSI depending on diameter, that means those hoses ain't even startin to work hard. They'll probably last him forever. lol

I think I'm going to install one of these if for nothing else the added capacity and filter change convenience. Not that filter access is that bad with a SBM. Still going to need a larger than stock pan with some good baffling to keep from starving the pump though.

you could add a cooler too for even more capacity and maybe use hardline as much as you can for better heat transfer. only chassis to motor part really 'needs' to be flexi.
neil.

Sometimes on the remote oil filter setups there’s a drain back check valve, to keep the oil from returning to the pan on shutdown. I’m assuming he had the check valve backwards, as pointed out by Mr Rusty.

If the engine isn’t assembled you are better off drilling and tapping the block and screwing the fittings into the block than using that adapter plate.

If it’s together than you don’t really have that option.

I just installed a dual remote filter setup on my 318la.

I filled both filters full; primed the lines; cranked it for a good minute (on and off) and still nothing. I even tried bleeding the filters and lines. I have oil being pumped to the filters. still nothing. even took the mechanical gauge line off to bleed it from there maybe and after cranking for 15 to 20 seconds nothing.
the filters are a 51515R wix
did you check that the lines/hoses oreintation are correct

Re what hoses to use, my 1985 M-B 300D (diesel) has an oil cooler beside the radiator. I re-hosed with AC Barrier hose (-12, recall). Has lasted fine for 10 years and other owners have used the same. I used a MasterCool ferrule crimper. AC hose is designed for higher pressure than oil pressure and for hot oil. Newer "barrier" type has an inner liner (Viton?) for no leakage and longer life. The hose is after a 3 ft run of steel tube, so slightly lower temperature than at the oil filter housing.

It's not good for high heat. I've seen it harden and flake off.......even in non heat applications. It's just personal preference, I don't like the stuff. lol
In the oil patch especially, we installed a lot of fittings for stainless tubing. We used the thicker teflon tape with two wraps. Then just a dab of PST paste. Rarely had leaks even in 5,000 PSI installations.
