Oil bypass filter adapter

I had that same kit on a 340 back in 1992. Used it for a couple years with no issues. Mounted the filter on the inner fender near the radiator support.

I did one up at a hydraulic hose store, picked the ends, picked the length and had them crimp the ends on for me. It was pretty cheap as I remember, maybe $4-5 an end plus hose by the foot. Mine had to snake through Narrow A semi fenderwell hookers. Went to top of fenderwell. worked great.

You could ditch them barbed fittings and get something like, Fragola Performance Systems #200123 push lite hose ends and never look back, you would have to get the matching hose also. You could also get 90, 45 degree fittings if they would work better.

Same here , had one on a 600h.p sbc vega , mounted in the same place. No problems .

Barbed hose ends with external clamps does seem like a problem waiting to happen for the long term. It looks like this kit has the parts to eliminate the filter plate on the block.

True push-on type fittings and the proper hose for that is a much better solution. You can buy the adapters separately and then get good fittings at most local NAPA stores, or get the hoses made. If you do push-ons or fixed pre-made ends, then you ought to get one end for the hose as a regular wrench tightened, AN-type fitting, that go onto matching AN-to pipe adapter into the filter adapter; that is for ease of connection. Just keep an eye on restrictions in any fitting adapter.

Put some sort of aluminum tape/shield on the hose to prevent picking up heat raidating from the headers.
