Oil Pan leaking, one side only!!!

-
Thanks everyone for all your help with this issue.

I’ve just never had a pan leak on the sides like this!!!

Thanks again Gentlemen for all the help!

No sir, it wasn’t me!

The toughest part was working out the starter mounts as I didn’t have an old bellhouse to use.

After I fabricated a bracket mount pretty straightforward from there.

It’s an engine stand converted to a run stand. I made so the front mount brackets can be unbolted and converted back to a regular stand when needed.
I found a thread for the original build - maybe - lots of photos

Build That Engine Run Stand

It’s working in the areas where they give you trouble if you don’t make the mods.

I’m just going to order a new pan and move on.

Thanks for all the help on this!!
That's like saying "My wife cheats on me, but not with everybody".

Whatever Rob!!!

Why is it that you always have to get smart with people in a thread?

I would’ve thought more from someone I shipped a FREE BIG BLOCK CAMSHAFT TO and never asked for anything in return!!!

I never said anything when you turn around after getting it and tried to sell it on here, because you said it was to big for what you were building, even after I gave you the specs before sending it, as you said you could make it work!

I looked at it like I gave it to you and you could do with as you please!

Like I said before to all the others, Thanks for all the Help!!!

I wasn't bein smart. Just trying to inject a little humor was all. Sorry.

Because I don't know....

Does the windridge tray go on seperate to the pan?

IIRC some windridge trays are seperate on some motors.

So the install would be gasket tray gasket pan.

Just reaching for straws

Small block windage tray bolts to the main cap fasteners, not the oil pan rail.
I have had Milodon windage tray studs hit the pan and keep it from sitting flat against the pan rail, but I assumed he used a factory style windage tray from the description.

Yes sir, the tray mounts to your main caps and the pan is separate.

A w/tray is different on 360 vs the 318-340, because of the main caps are different, you have to have a w/tray that is slotted where they mount to the caps to allow for an install on the 360.

So the install is W/Tray, Gasket then Pan.

The W/Tray never comes in contact with the Gasket or pan.

The W/Tray has to be installed before your Oil Pump also so you can set you pickup height in case its to close to the Tray.

It's a factory style w/the slotted mounting holes, I bought from a member on here a long time ago.

Put Aviation Sealer on the bolt threads, do not put them in dry.

The oil will "Wick" down the threads when they are dry.

UPDATE…. Problem Solved!!!!

The Bolts I was using were for the Magnum Motors… made sense to me to use what it came with it!!!

Wrong!!!! The OEM Magnum Bolts are 7/8 in length and the OEM LA Bolts are 3/4!!

So the were tightening just enough but not quite sealing the pan along the sides and would leak only once it got up to around 180 degrees.

On the Front and Rear where they go all the way through… no leaks!!!

So, installed the correct length and now no issues!!!

Thanks everyone for your help with this issue!!!
