On a street near you!!

Well, after a few weeks of getting caught up with other peoples dream projects, its back to mine. GREAT NEWS! If I can pull it off, there is a parking spot on the inside floor of the main building-INSIDE!! for my little AWB for the 2008 SEMA Show. WOW! Just a little pressure? I hope that if I can get it up and done in time, most will remember that it is a period race car, not a Foose or Trepanier built custom (no disrespect meant whatsoever).
We started doing engine bay work on it, and have come up with a "unique" way to strengthen the front end when I cut out the inner fender panels in anticipation for fenderwell headers. Remember, I expect bumper dragging wheelies at the very least!, so I'll document this part of the build as it was never done in the DVD. This idea I have will eliminate the use of hidden "down" bars that we see so much of on aftermarket front clip cars, but give the front end of the car much needed structural integrity replacement. Found a aluminum radiator through Speedway that looks like a drop in replacement for the current opening in the core, so that'll save time on re-fabbing.
But------ my choice of powerplants has been changed for the time being. Money that was to be spent on a new bullet now has to go towards making it "pretty". It'll get what it so much deserves in the near future- - - A BLOWN, INJECTED HEMI!.

Color is picked (Chrysler Ivory white), and its got a name, thanks to my wife. She said, "It looks like the car has an identity crisis. It doesn't know what it wants to be?"

So befitting. "IDENTITY CRISIS"

Firestone, just email Mike, and let him know you want to 'steal one of his pictures to paste on your garage wall. If he grumbles about it, let me know. He's crusty in his old age, but cool!

Dale, are you and Steve going to Mopars at the Strip at Vegas the end of March?

Mike

There are a couple other events at the end of March, but if the car is back from Paint, I might try and haul my car up there to throw out for the "dogs" to sniff around. As for Steve, by now he should have already landed foot in the land of white (Mass.) All his belongings (and one transporter loaded to the gills with cars, vans, etc..) should be at his new digs. Can't say if he'll make it or not. He's been quite busy, and I"ve not spoken with him for a couple weeks going-

I'm not sure when Steve will throw in his hat. He does not frequent the forums, just who he is I guess. He's getting ready to possibly make a move over to the East Coast, so everyone over on the cold side of the country will get a heavy dose of "Magnante-ism's".
The engine is nothing more than a story motor covered in Car Craft(?) a few month's back, the 8 3/4 still has an open diff, and I'm not sure what the ratio set is. The DVD's are selling at a pretty steady rate, which tells me that there are ALOT of people out there who want to try and give this stuff a whirl. Glad for that.

Was this one of the cars that was at Fall Fling? I stopped by several times but there were always a lot of people standing around asking questions. If I can make some progress on my 64 I'd like to bring it down for you guys to take a look at. I'd like to go the straight axle route but the car is already painted so I won't be interested in going altered

We had both cars at the 'Fling. Parked together, they looked impressive, even in thier rough state. Mopar Collectors guide shot a few pictures, and then put them into their top 10 Mopar Cars and Parts 2007 issue. I'm pretty sure they DID NOT mean our cars were in the top ten! Just filler stuff, but hey, I got my first Mopar in print.

I'm down to my last two A-100 axles. Man, they are starting to get scarce around here. And then all of a sudden there are a dozen old vans being scrapped. I you guys ever even have an inkling to go straight axle, and find a good donor van, just grab 'em and throw that thing in the backyard, 'cause when you want one, you can't find one. Story of most things though, eh?

I hear ya, I stashed an A-100 axle away along with some van seats! :toothy10:

So what you are telling me is that i need to provide the materials? If you are going to be at SpringFling I'd like to chat with you. I would like to go the straight axle route and i would like for you guys to do it. Too many hacks around here that would mess it up. Questions I would have would be,

Can I bring the car down as is or would you need me to pull the motor and front suspension?

How long would you need to make the conversion. I'll need to know to plan trips down and back.

Do I need to provide my own hardware?

What brakes do you use? Disk brakes available?

Thanks for your help

John

John, you can give me a call at the shop(626) 256-0126, whenever you want, just leave a return phone number if you can. Sometimes with earpugs I fail to hear the phone ring. There are lots of different ways to complete the project, it all depends on how much of the work you want to perform. As far as the Spring Fling, I'm not sure if my car will be there. Its going in for paint (by the way, not sure if I mentioned it but the blue Dart will be displayed on the main floor at this years SEMA show, YEAH!!!) in two weeks or so.

I've ruffled a few feathers in the past month or so, with my choice of powerplant for Dart #2. To get the project back off the backburner, and to have it up and running, I've had to deviate from the norm, and commit temporary insanity. I doubt if I'll be even allowed to show the car at the 'Fling, unless the hood stays closed. GULP. But alas, it is only temporary until that injected Max-Wedge tumbles down from heaven! But, the engine is painted in the correct color of hemi orange! Almost looks like a Magnum?
