Orange Box mounting help

I believe the original ECUs were installed on the firewall behind the motor. These things dont like heat, so I believe in 73 they moved it to the inner fender like above. As mentioned, scrape the paint off the mounting area on the back of it.
Also, carefully scrape/sand the area of the car where it mounts. A pig tail works well to.

I've heard too much bad news about the orange box. If it has to be orange, buy the Chrome one and paint it.

Sorry not a 66 but mine is mounted on the drivers side inner fender just below the lip for the hood bumpers, about 3 inches from the fire wall. The resister is above the pinch weld on the fire wall.
