Orange Box

I think it depends on the coil / ballast set used. Never the less, I'd rather replace the putt around orange than a harder to find 534 unit.

I have used the mopar chrome box as a replacement on my dart sport. It ran fine! 4 prong ballast no changes to wiring.

I would agree with Daves69, which I also confirmed with the DC boys that the key seems to be to match the coil and ballast resistor ie 1 1.5kohm coil should have a coresponding 1.5 kohm resistor. If you look at the wiring diagram the D69 provided it is the same for both boxes, 12 v in start and then reduced (according to resistor value) to the box in run mode. What we do not know is if the chrome box wants more voltage, especially at very high RPM, (note the chart). I do not recognize HM value for the resistors, but I note that it appears lower which if true should allow more run voltage to the chrome box, my assumption only.
In your case if you just swapped out the boxes then the coil and resistor still match ? So what are they ? Also how long have you been running the chrome box and are you street driving? You probably would not notice loss of output from the chrome box under 6000RPM. That under 2000RPM note may only apply to that coil/resistor combo. Got a bit carried away with this but it will be interesting to hear your comments.
