On my wiring instruction sheet for an Orange Box install the green wire (with red tracer) says "not used" . Does anyone know what it is for or even why it is there? Perchance tach drive???
I would agree with Daves69, which I also confirmed with the DC boys that the key seems to be to match the coil and ballast resistor ie 1 1.5kohm coil should have a coresponding 1.5 kohm resistor. If you look at the wiring diagram the D69 provided it is the same for both boxes, 12 v in start and then reduced (according to resistor value) to the box in run mode. What we do not know is if the chrome box wants more voltage, especially at very high RPM, (note the chart). I do not recognize HM value for the resistors, but I note that it appears lower which if true should allow more run voltage to the chrome box, my assumption only.I have used the mopar chrome box as a replacement on my dart sport. It ran fine! 4 prong ballast no changes to wiring.
