995 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Custom 2-door Hardtop $88,000

This would be cool to own.
5017 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Hemi Sox & Martin Factory Race Car $198,000

from some of the prices, a lot of hung over people are going to wake up in the morning and wonder why their bank account's empty and what the hell that car is doing in the driveway.

Some good deals on there by the looks of it..curious what kinda shape the A100 was in??

There will always be buyers that pay way too much for what they're getting. But there were also some incredible deals to be had. I saw a lot of cars during the auction sell for way less than what you could build them for.

Lot 5017 went for $180,000. Thats what it was at when the hammer dropped.

You're 100% right, Craig. Prices shown include the "Buyers Commission" - what the Buyer had to actually pay for the car before they could call it theirs - and are straight from the B-J website.

I still don't get why people think its a good thing when these cars sell for record money, especially in the NUMEROUS examples that are mis-represented.... like the d stock dart... I think the soul of this hobby, is being able to afford to buy, sell and trade these cars and parts, on a working mans budget. Guys get all excited that a A body brings 40k at a auction.... I say that is BAD for the hobby, unless your a millionare. Cause guess what? pretty soon, you wont be able to AFFORD to buy a project car.......already see it going just like that.

I think we're talking about two separate worlds here...most of the time, rich collectors are searching out the best cars out there; they are not interested in cars that we average guys would gladly own.

I could agree with you somewhat, but actually, a great number of these cars are not "the best cars out there" as has been discussed.. And you have the trickle down aspect, where the guy with the rustbucket sees the barret-jackson sale prices, then figures his car is worth a lot more than it really is. Again, BAD for the hobby.

Exactly. And without those guys spending good money for those cars, we would not have the selection of reproduction parts that has grown enormously in the past 5 years.

Thanks OC, I tried searching thru their site to find the A100, but couldnt manouver thru their site. Thanks for their link! Nice looking van, but was expecting a little nicer....

The truly "high end cars" are done on a level all to themselves.... NOS or good factory parts only, and in some cases, "lunch pail parts" Problem is, these barrett Jackson prices, many times are for cars that don't fit that description at all. Its is BAD for the hobby, period. In the end, who made out? the auction house, bigtime. And all those working mans budget projects get priced out of reach.

I look at the rediculus prices on collector cars, today as simply more proof that buying, or collecting cars is become a rich man's hobby.

Of course, it's whatever the market will bare. I don't see it as a good thing for the true enthusiast who does his own work, and drives these cars more often than not.

I watched a few of these cars get sold, and early on the coup rolled in
The Barracuda Custom 2-door Hardtop and wow I seen it go for $ 88,000

The guy that bought the Sox&Martin 68 Cuda bought a 67 Corvette for 3.5 million a few minutes later.....I just can't fathom how much money these guys are worth. They spend millions like it was pennies.Ahaaa, to dream....

That one totally caught me off guard....I couldn't believe it. But I heard he also bought the Snake and Mongoose package.
