Yeah, it makes it hard to support the local business sometimes. On big parts, Rock really nails you on shipping, though- sometimes the local store will win out in that regard. And sometimes they'll price match, it's worth it to ask.
But the big advantage to local stores is that you can hold the part in your hands and tell right away whether it's the right part, without having to mess with return authorizations or the argument that ensues when they try to tell you that YOU ordered the wrong part, and it couldn't possibly be their listing that was wrong...
:BangHead:
Yeah, I stopped ordering from ROC for that exact reason, plus if you get a defective part it's a pain in da a$$ to replace it.

I generally hate most everything about Amaon/

I agree, Rocks many warehouses sucks, but like a guy showed me, hit every brand of that part and after you have shopped pick the best shipping. Never order just one part either.

Mark up at O Reilly or any other chain is usually 2 to 4 time more than at Rock and Rock no doubts makes profit $$$$.
I hate Amazon too as well as most large corporate run businesses.

Just looking for a small safe town within an hours drive to the beach.
Don't buy at the beach because they get hit a lot with hurricanes, in Florida an hour's drive inland is good but it's not flat terrain in NC which is why western NC faired so badly with that hurricane this year.

Yes, that's why at least hours ride preferably on higher elevation too. Lots of streams that flood.

Hey Mtrhead. Mind sharing the names/locations of some of the yards down there? Haven't rummaged through a good junkyard in a while. Need some rear seats for a 71 Duster and a center console...thanks!

Mom said, "Never build by the creek or river." or even the wet weather ditch!!
I live 2 blocks from the 8th largest lake in Florida and it empties into the St Johns River, but I am at least 30 feet above the lake. My grandfather always said to move where the old houses are because that's a sign that the area doesn't flood.

Can't wait till I move to NC. No good yards up here anymore

Just joking!

Actually, That West coast pic is how they are up here. Anything 10 years old gets crushed. I wish they looked like Pic 1 up here. At least you'd have a chance of finding something.
