Positive crankcase ventilation

Pan E-vacs , on the street I think are overkill.
I installed two of them, and between my driving style, and rpm, they were sucking the oil right out of the valve covers.
If you go this route, you will need tall valve covers, and a serious baffle/separator system, or go to a cross-over and hi mount.
I tried just one, but no dice either. Ran just the PCV and end of story.

BTW
In my streeter, an 11/1 and better 367; at various times I have had cams from the 292/292/108 Mopar, down to the Hughes 270/276/110. The PCV worked fine, in every combo, even down to 550 rpm. I mean I just grabbed any old SBM valve out of the junk box. I don't get the big hullabaloo about tuning PCVs. They do a pretty good impression of an Idle-Air Bypass. Just like the holes I drill in the Primary throttle blades that some guys frown upon. Quick, easy, and cheap.
I think you may be overthinking it.

True, that is one of the useful things about the adjustable unit.
I can adjust my PCV with an Allen wrench in seconds without unbolting anything. :p
What do you do if you want the holes in your butterflies bigger?
How about smaller?

For low vac cams that will not operate correctly with the stock PCV, I just modify the stock PCV. I am only worried about the flow at idle. That flow area is about the size of a 7/64" hole. I gut the PCV, braze/weld in a steel disc, then drill a 7/64"hole in it. Job done & I have done many.
I run a fixed orifice (small ID hose inserted into a gutted PCV body) along with a Moroso oil separator for my system. Even with well designed valve cover baffles I still get some oil drawn through but at least the engine ain’t sucking most of it in, just drawing in the blow by gases like the PCV setup is supposed to.

So the copper looking 90* at the bottom of that spun aluminum canister gets connected to manifold pressure? or the back of the carb....same same?

That tube you see is the drain (there’s a lever on the other side of the big hex that tube screws into that rotates to drain) for collected oil. On the top right side of the canister (barely visible in that posts picture) is the stub for the hose that goes to the carb. Better pics:

I like it.
I run an oil separator as well with the adjustable PCV.
I fabbed my own baffles and TiG'd them in to my covers (they're 440source fabbed covers that had none). When the engine's running you can pop the breather or PCV off, feel the topside of the baffle and there's little to no oil on the surface, and the bottom of the PCV is dry for the most part...but there's so much mist flying around at higher RPM that it still sucks oil.
(Did anyone else see Andy F's video of the dyno pull with clear covers?)
I get about half a shot glass worth of oil out of the separator every few hundred miles. That's oil that would have gone right into the intake tract:eek:

Now the new psv valv is in place to my surprice it idles mutch smoother than before whid the all open crank vent newer to old to learn thank you all

There is a low dollar option for us but either the adjustable or non adjustable setups should have an oil catch between the pcv and the carb

Why? you ask...the oil vapor dilutes the mixture and causes detonation that cannot be heard at high rpm but shows on the plugs if one is paying attention. The oil catch can be something fancy from the aftermarket [ i like the ford mustang based products] but for the tight wallet - use a see thru fuel filter. Actually one car I work on has an adjustable pcv and the fuel filter as the owner's priorities are a little skewed at times. Like p-poor seat belts in a fast car and a broken front seat spring or 2. If you have power brakes there is gm based filter and check valve you should have installed between the engine and the booster. As for the seat belts; 3 inch seat belts with the conventional release like 1970 are less than $50.00 ea - not expensive but smart - see the interweb.

Now I suppose i have to disclose the secret pcv valve part number that was found to work very well with a real catch can.
4343581.
I have read that Fram FV 191 is a good replacement as well but i have no experience with that part

Thanks, these types of conversations are great, and when you post pics the information is absorbed quicker for us slow folks.:)

I wonder if I bought some torsion bars from you about 3 years ago. My sister in law lives around there.

not me, but @70dart340 lives up the road. And that lime green dart with wicked fabricating skills lives in Kent. Desmo9000 moved to LA area. I would like to make more contacts around here.

Shoot to bad I didn't know when I was over there I'm in Yakima now

70dart340 breaking radio silence. "clementine " is a hell of a nice guy. I donated him a set of 915 "J" heads after seeing the progress on his 383 "Cuda." He's a hell of a nice normal guy, which makes him an endangered species in western, left leaning, Washington. I'm taking my bride of 35 years back to northern Florida next summer. I'll have more parts for him before we head back to Gator country. I don't go into Seattle or King county Unless I'm legally using my CPL. YMMV.

We're referring to Seattle, Washington. It's not the city it used to be. I'm moving my family away after 30 years. High taxes, and paying for homeless people paid to live on our sidewalks. Bye!

Ok i feel you to bad whats happening in the world

I don't want to irritate the Moderators, so I'll retract my last comment from the site. I've served overseas in my service with the USMC, but that doesn't seem to hold water with our countries' current view to old Veteran's. Ban me if it's needed in your opinion. Semper Fidelis Forever.
