Post 11 second small block combos

Details:

Between the boat, the quads and now this car I barely have time to maintain nevermind build/restore, therefore I bought this car as you see it. The only thing Ive done is set the valves, installed a 3" header dump, hooked up the NOS and worked on the back end set up. I certainly applaud everybody for doing what you do as far as restoration/building. Frankly, I just don't have the time.

The Demon of course is an original 72 340, with a 69 block,balanced/built crank,6 pack rods, 020" over KB pistions,Eddy alluminum heads, roller cam/valve train/solid lifters,RPM intake,750 and a 850 performer (havent decided which one to use),NOS 150hp shot, electric fan, fuel cell, shaved water pump impellor, battery in trunk...........And......built 727,cheetah manual valve body, set up for a trans brake,line-lock,8 3/4 with hardened gears (4:86),strange axles, tubbed (obviously) running 31X16.5 ET Streets. I'm missing a bunch of stuff here but this is it in a nutshell, The car will run 11.8's all day when tuned/set up on engine and on NOS im not sure, as I too dont have cage nor do I want to install one. My guess on spray the car Should run mid-to high tens" given that my buddies 68 Dart dropped 1-1.5 secs with the same set-up.

Its funny, Ive been going through the bills from the guy that built it and I stopped at ~$20k for the drive train alone with a bunch of misc. bills left to count. Likely I could NOT afford to build it either on top of the time issue......lol

Got the 416 put in my FB fish and ran it down the 1/8 mile yesterday. What a HUGE improvement from the 340! Was 8.37 / 84 MPH (2 1/2" dual mufflers) at about 55 degrees, now 7.26 / 96 MPH at 72 degrees. 60' was around 2.0 (plus/minus .06) now 1.60 or so. Thgis is with an inadequate burnout as the line lock is busted. Right now open TTI 3" collector headers. I think there is more there cause the shift to 3rd is acting like a missed shift for a while so maybe I need to loosen up the kickdown. Fuel line size needs increasing to 3/8 ID (AN6).

3050 # with driver
3.91 SG, 275/60-15 drag radials
10-1 CR running pump 93 octane
ported eddys, victor 340 1" blended spacer, 830 Holley
Comp 292H purple 508 hydraulic flat tappet cam, 1.5 rockers
low stall converter (maybe 2200 flash).

My goal is to have a stock console interior and after paint have the street car run 7.35 to 7.50 so I don't have to install bars.

I run a '70 340 .030 ross 10.5 flat tops. "X" heads with musle motor stage 2 port work. Ultradyne .587/255 @ .050 solid flat tappet cam, RPM air gap and a Biggs 750 Holley. MSD dist.,6a box and Blaster 2 coil. Stock crank and eagle "H" beam rods. A 4300 Coan 8 inch converter in a 727 with a cheetah reverse manual v b. 8 3/4 rear with 4.56 detroit locker. In my stock '71 Demon that weighed 3215 w/o me it ran 7.43 at sikeston. It has run a 6.88 in my race car.

Nice, I guess that is 1/8 mile (LOL Kidding) Can you convert it?

Thanks, I should have asked if there's a on line calc to use for this conversion.

I guess I shouldn't have said conversion, as I just read it off the time slip. There are conversion factors out there, but I don't feel they're all that accurate. If a car has really deep gears and gets killer 1/8 et, car may be in rev limitter far before end of quarter. Likewise some cars like my Road Runner would not come out of hole well at all, so was slow in 1/8, but would really haul at end of quarter.
I think the conversions/comparisons are neat, but not diffinitive.

Wow, impressive times. We had our 3600lb. B body 408 out this past fall and ran 11.93 at 111.36MPH.
Engine combo,
Eagle cast crank.

4.30 gear.

When ya run it, post it, until then, keep it off. Show me the time slip.

Just put Demon on chassis dyno to cure issue with not pulling above 6000 RPM. Found out the rev limit on the MSD Digital 6 box was coming in early. It was set for 6500, but dyno showed engine cutting out at 5900. Adjusted up rev limit, car pulled to 6500! Gained 12 HP at peak and 50 HP at 6000 just turning that dial! No engine tuning was done at all.
Am going to Firebird for another run Jan 28th.
Previous best, last week, was 11.72 @ 112. Hope to see around 115 MPH now, maybe 11.60s? Will let you know.
Chuck.

Dang dude ,that 340 must be turning some serious rpm's with 5.57 gears and a 30 inch tire at 115 plus ,yikes !!!

hi, 7100/7200 is usually where it runs in traps. it pulls it easily. before had 5.13 and 29.5 tire, turned 6400 rpm. changed to 5.57 and 30 " tires, ran .30 quicker and 1 mph faster. just food for thought.

Car did pick up a little. Ran 11.64 @ 113. 1/8 imprved to 7.32 @ 91. I shift at 5800 and go thru lights now at 6300. I footbrake, leaving off 2 step at 2700. May try upping my launch next. My friend with simialr combo says he shifts at 5500, so I may try that next as well to see if it helps. It was 75 degrees out, was hoping it would be cooler!

here is my ride .. I restored it myself and worked on just about everything on it mechanically .

Due to lack of description of anything but a brag, I took the time the poster didn't to present you with a link to a thread he started. Thanks for the extra work.
