Seeing this car today leaves me with two things to say;

1: This picture does this car a dis-service because it is really freakin nice!

2: I wanna do this like combo as well one day.
(Come on lotto!)

What cam did ya run? The MP right?
I like it a lot. Not overly complicated, pretty simple approach of not fooling around running with proven parts.

Thanks Rob, Yes its the M/P cam and its been a great reliable combo thats gone many rounds for over 7 years and over 700 runs.

Best of 11.03 @ 121
Last Weekend 11.20 @ 118 carb needs more jet.

I know this is an old post but I do see a Feb 14' 1/4 mile time posted. I wanted to ask you how you got those 10x29 Hoosiers on your car. Spring location? Mini tub? flattened the inner wheel well? I need more tire at the track for traction. My car drives excellent on the street and I like the stance as it is. Don't want to mess that up to get the tires to hook at the track. Currently running 235/60/15 MT et streets. They are barely clearing the wheel well because the only aluminum wheel backspacing I could find was 3.75" for the LBP. Have ralleys with more back spacing (just short of 5")and I can barely fit 255-60-15 MT et streets on it with some rubbing on the street. The 255s are 10.1 section width. That seems to be the max without mods. Even the 29x9 Hoosiers lists an 11.4" section width. Any info/suggestions would be appreciated. David

The 71 Dart has full tubs in the rear along with ladder bars and coil over shock. The frame rails are stock and the inside of the wheel well has been trimmed. It was trimmed before I tubbed the car. There is plenty of room for probably a 13 inch tire with the correct wheel back spacing. Oh...the axles have been shorted 2 inches on each side also...

Moving in the springs and doing at least a mini tub will greatly increase the room...

On my Demon I put a 28/10.5W on it by moving the leaf springs with the spring relocation kit. It moved the leaf springs in 3 in. and I bought wheels with 4 7/8 back spacing with stock width rear housing.

That's a HUGE gain for an intake swap! Was it 100% intake to intake?

Poor Victor casting?
Mods to M1...porting?
Any fuel curve changes...jetting, PV's??
Same track and weather conditions as your previous best?
Launch and shift RPM the same???

Thanks!

Intake swap only. Both intakes gasket matched and are nice castings. I used moroso ab epoxy on the M1 carb flange to convert it from spreadbore to square flange. Hotter temp and poor track prep for the runs with the M1. Launch at 4500 rpm, shifting at 6600 rpm for both intakes. The M1 will easily out 60' the victor in my application and has the same top end. My overall 1/4 mile ET average with the victor was 11.8, average with the M1 is 11.5. Victor plenum is probably to large and runner length is too short for the RPM range I'm running.

Upgraded the motor this summer. It was time to freshen it after 7 years in the car. I did say it was reliable; didn't I? Best pass so far is a 10.834 at 119.97. Go to the 10 second page to get more info.

Hi,

i´m pretty excited, was at the drags this weekend, after some low 12 sec. passes i finally got an 11.98 @ 113.5 mph. 68 Valiant 2dr Sedan, full interior, 408 cui with Indy X-heads, Comp XR286HR cam, EDE Performer RPM, 750 Holley HP DP (AED). I recently did the trans and put in a 3500 stall converter (Turbo Action 17805st).

Now i have to repair the left front caliper, it´s sticking and i think i left some time there. Will try some 1.6 Rockers in near future. I´m positive that there´s more in it, best 60ft. time was 1.79, i think there´s also room for improvement.

Michael

p.s.: the pic is from last year....racing my swiss buddy Marc. He´s a nice guy with a cool 318 on juice, also in the eleventies.....

I went back to the drags last night with my aussie charger. Heres the specs.
360 stroker 410
10.5 flat top pistons
edelbrock heads 2.02 valves out of the box
edelbrock air gap intake
edelbrock 800 avs carb
Hughs roller cam 232@50 530 lift with Harland Sharp 1.5 roller rockers.(just a baby)
pacemaker tri y headers into 2.5 exhaust
msd ecurve ign set at 32 degrees total
tko 600 5 speed trans
borg warner 7 3/4 lsd diff
caltracs
Mickey Thomson ET street radials 235/60/15 (26 inch)
best timed last night was on first run 11.76 @117.00 with a 1.64 sixty foot
This was dropping the clutch at about two thousand revs.
Next run I got a bit more aggressive and dropped the clutch at three and a half but wheel spun all the way through first gear resulting in a 2.03 sixty foot for a 12.4
I had to keep the revs down as it would not launch good if I gave it any sort of revs.
I will go back when they have a day meeting for the mopar mayhem as the wed night meetings attract well over 150 cars and you are lined up about thirty deep x 6 lanes and there keep getting oil downs which affects traction for the rest of the night.

11.158@122.86 with 1.584 60' launched ~5500 rpm

New combo only got a few runs in, did not get to launch where I think we'll end up, which is around 6000-6500 RPM. Fully expect she will get down in the 10's a ways, with a good launch/good track and a few more passes to tweak the shift RPM. Also will have the two step in play to control launch RPM better.

Ran a tnt with Duster at Sac this past Sat ran consistant 11.33 raised mph to 117 motor is pulling hard through traps needed to raise the rev limit chip to 7200 still hitting it. Motor wants more fuel. Love that mild stock stroke 340 and not much done with heads.

Nice! Where is the previous post with your build parts?
