Anyone using the Power Bond PB1004SS sfi balancer. Its much thinner than the stock 340 balancer and sticks out a 1/4 inch more than the 340 when installed. It seems like its not drawn in all the way. does anyone have an installed image .

I using one no issues at all, unfortunately it is installed and I don't have the energy to crawl under the car to take photos..

Did it draw in close to the timing cover near the timing marks. Mine sits out almost a 1/2 inch.

Mine went within a 1/4". Mike @ B3 Racing Engines built mine and he knows these pretty well.

Resist the temptation to use your damper bolt..

rent or buy the right installer from local parts store
or put the damper in the oven around 200 deg get some oven mits and they usually slide right on

If a damper bolt can't get it on...isn't the installer the same thing? I suppose a stud with a nut would be a better jack screw (fully threaded into crank for strength). LISLE brand balancer puller comes with a jack screw that's the same on as an LA crank bolt. Get a nut and use that as the crank stud.

Get some 3/4 fine thread all-thread, a matching nut and a couple big flat washers, a grease everything up. Thread the all-thread all the way into the crank, push the damper on with nut. MUCH better than using a couple threads of the damper bolt (a good way to strip the crank threads).

No. The installer pulls on the threads on the installation tool, not the threads in the crank. I’ve fixed many cranks because guys were trying to get the damper on with the crank bolt.

Yeah, thats what the Lisle screw does. It can fully thread into the crank threads and you use a nut on it to crank the damper onto the snout. After your done, unscrew the Lisle threads and thread your bolt in and torque it down.
