Some more from today. The ride height and back spacing of the wheels are spot on. special thanks to Denny aka. Hemidenny. and his HDK front suspension.

Nice wheels... what size wheels and tires F/R did you end up going with.
 
They are 18x8 out front. I had hopes of doing 9 like on your car. But there is no way with out some serious sheet metal work The early A's are just to tight. I'm running a 6" B/S
Tires are 235/40

For anyone using the HDK suspension on your early A body. I'm using wilwood pro spindles with 2" drop. Believe it or not I thought we would be using the shortest setting on the mock up shaft that Denny supplies with his kit.It is a using the tallest setting and with the wheel and tire combo I have on the front there is no way it could go any lower with out some serious sheet metal work to the inner fender and close out panels to the engine bay. the tires are 25.4 tall. the cross over tube on the new suspension is 6.25 inchs off the ground and the front rocker/fender at its lowest point is 5 inches.
 
removed the lower core support brace to make a much stiffer replacement. Really didn't take much to get it off. I see why a lot of rigidity can be had by replacing the stock support. I will be fabricating a new one tomorrow.

I have blank (no brackets) pre-bent box tubing if it will help you.....just like on your K

I think you will enjoy the longer shocks.....some say it the longer shock makes no difference. My butt says they do.
 
Thanks Denny, I have some round tube I will be bending to make the lower hoop.
 
Started mocking up the lower core support brace and getting the radiator in place. Now I just need to make room for the inter-cooler.

As Denny suggested. The lower support is now welded in place. will be working on the rear springs tonight.

waiting in the balance at the moment. other jobs keep coming in. and as you know all to well they come first. i have hopes of getting in some time on it soon though
 
Looks good, hate to keep asking questions but what rad are you using.

I'm a few steps behind you and will be cutting my lower rad support out next week.
I was thinking of a champion rad part no. CC2374 21" tall with rad cap.
 
Keith It was one I bought cheap off ebay to simple use as a mock up unit. If it ends up working out. That is even better. I believe it was a KKS motorsports brand.
 
OK so here is where I'm at tonight. The Radiator will fit under the hood. Started fitting the inter-cooler into the front valance. Still needs to move up about 1/2 an inch to get it just above the core support brace I just welded in. All in all not a bad nights work. More tomorrow.

I was just looking at my first post to see where the bumper will be and how much of the inter-cooler will be visible. GEEZ... has this build gone a stray. who in the hell was I kidding? LOL.
 
I take it the two larger holes are from the bumper supports? I'd ditch the bumper and run two SMICs behind/fed by former bumper holes. I was never a fan of just having a huge FMIC out in the open.
 
.......but 10k?...is that what you told your wife?....come on!!...it's US your talkin too....but its OK as long as your build gets the green light....after that...well..it's kinda like a government project...you know....justification???..means...gotta have it!!

I have thought about doing something like that but if I decide to run it in the SCCA cam class it requires bumpers
