Been a while and wanted to update the buggy thread... I have had the car out several times already this season.. yesterday was the day we finally got around to giving the car her supper stock springs... and man did she fight! We had to cut the front bolt from the hanger on the passenger side... both shackle snapped when trying to get the nuts off (which I sort of expected anyways, since they were NASTY looking.. ) Went to put the passenger side back together and one of the brand new shackles I got from Summit, snapped while we were tightening it up... Oh I was mad as a hornet... called Summit and bitched.. (they're sending a new shackle) drivers side went together without too much incident.. so that was a plus.
Turns out my good friend has a 67 parts Dart sitting out behind his shop, so just for ***** and giggles, we drove over climbed in the weeds to see if that car would give up a shackle... Now I had no faith in this, however the phrase, 'you just never know'
came to mind LOL ... sure enough, she gave up a shackle.. we took it back, cleaned it up and got the buggy finished and back on the ground.. Took her for a ride.. I love the way those springs feel...
Did find out though, that thanks to the springs doing their job, its time for a little more motor than the stock 360 for burnouts LMAO .. tried twice last night.. the car felt totally differant, it stood up, and just pushed the back tires hard against the ground... all I did the first time was push the front end of the car... lol.. 2nd attempt I got the rears to finally break loose and spin (only after pushing the car about 10 feet LMAO) .. so yeah, the rear suspension has been upgraded, works great.. now I need more pony's under the hood for my burnout fun (or i need to at least get the hose out and wet the alley first lol) .. Just keeping ya all updated.. Happy hot rodding everyone
