Lots of you know I’ve been involved in dozens of fund raisers over the years for car shows and benefit auctions here on FABO. This one is personal.

The elderly mother of a dear friend** -- someone quite a few of you '67-'69 Barracuda owners have known and worked with for years -- was attacked by an Akita earlier this week and has already been in ICU for four days. Her injuries are very severe, her recovery is going to be long (she nearly lost her fingers!) and she’ll be out of commission for quite awhile. This is truly the last thing Margaret needed after losing her husband a few months ago and being in the same sad economic boat that a lot people are suffering through right now before this happened to her.

For those of you who use FaceBook, I’ve offered up a $100 Phoenix Specialty Coatings Gift Certificate to the highest bidder with all proceeds going to help Dana's mom offset her medical bills resulting from the vicious attack. This auction will run through November 22, 2013 at 12:00 a.m. Central USA time. (A separate auction for a bar of Hand Job mechanic’s soap is also running concurrently on FaceBook along with this auction.) If you don't use FaceBook and don't want to, you can email me and I will post your bid for you (let me know if you wish to remain anonymous). As of this writing, the Gift Certificate is at $100 and the Hand Job has been bid to $200. [Hmmmmm ....... :eek:ccasion:]

** I'm a BIG believer in Paying It Forward.

What you might not know is that in 2005, we were among the thousands of people who were wiped out by Hurricane Katrina along the Gulf Coast. My friend Dana Price, former Barracuda owner and known to the world as The TrimMaster of NWBarracudas, took it upon himself to rally the members of the Barracuda Owners Group in an effort to get some much-needed funds together to help us out after the storm. Though I've tried to help a lot of people in a lot of different ways in my lifetime, I've never been able to rightfully convey the gratitude I've felt toward him in the meantime nor had any opportunity to pay it back in kind.

Until NOW.

Dana's beloved mother is the one who was attacked by the Akita last week. It's a simple fact that I now have the chance to rally my own friends to perhaps help HIM and his mom in their own time of need. He's one of our own and they need us right now.

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, best wishes, sharing of these auction posts, and your donations. It's all going to the best causes in existence: Friendship and helping our fellow man when the chips are down.

Donations may be made through paypal directly to [email protected].

Thanks in advance for reading this – it is be most sincerely appreciated.

Great idea Leanna, times are super tight for me right now. Are you looking for bids on your items, as well as maybe donated items?? At the risk of sounding like a cheapskate is the starting bid on handjobs $200?
Your a good woman for doing this.
Prayers sent for Margaret and Dana!

Steve, it's super tight for everybody right now (including me as usual lol) but that's not stopping me from trying at least. Anything is appreciated whether it be a small donation or just some good vibes! The $200 bid on the soap was a surprise to me too and, as far as I know, is still the high one.

Thanks for being a part of it. :-D

Prayers sent Leanne hopefully I can send a little something to help out in a couple of weeks.

Hey Leanna if were bidding on items here I will bid $20.00 on DD keychain.

He got attacked by a pitt bull not to long ago I'm Happy he's back to playin nascar with his cats and digging up the yard for buried treasure again...it used be be playin chase with his cats but then I saw him take the lead :)

I'm in for a donation Leanna. Mike (2Darts) made a banner and one with a friends car on it for the Moper Nats a couple years ago and wouldn't take a dime for it. He asked that I just pay forward and I did a couple times for people in need here on FABO. I don't think I helped enough so I would like to pay forward for your friend. I don't need a discount for your work. I will pay you your fair price when you get my headlight pieces done. Although not a load of money, my donation will help fill the pot. PM me with the info how I can donate. Mike

Saw the pay pal address.......donation sent! Best of luck to her.

Glad to see this is pickin up. A lot more are signed up for Secret Santa and that's cool too. But here, we have the friend of a member in need. Leanna as always been there for every single benefit thread offering gift certificates. That's money right out of her pocket, because the benefit thread recipient receives the bid amount. Leanna does the work for free. I like the secret santa thing and I am going to participate this year. I have already sent a donation for this thread. Yall all know mine and Kitty's situation. If we can do it, there's no reason everyone else cannot do something. Whether it's put a part up for bid, or a small donation. Maybe do without that $5 latte one day this week. Really yall. Leanna has always been here for us. Lets not let her down.

Well said Rusty!

Hey Leanna if were bidding on items here I will bid $20.00 on DD keychain.

Thanks afb!! :-D If more items / bids are kicked in, I'll keep a list organized as we've done in prior benefit events.

My little auctions are only going for a couple more days though -- I wanted to get as much raised as I could quickly.

Curtis, knowing this makes your donation even more heart-warming! I hope Margaret recuperates as fully and quickly as Dodger seems to have. Give him a big scratch on the belly from me, and you can have one too. :-D

Donation sent!!

Thanks Geof!! You're awesome! :-D

Saw the pay pal address.......donation sent! Best of luck to her.

Mike, thanks so much for your great posts and for helping out with this. Though slowly (it's been a rather crappy year around here as ya know), your bezels are moving up in line and I appreciate your patience.

I had to wait a few minutes before I could type up this latest round of Thank Yous all because of you Rob (or because I'm just an emotional woman lol). I'm honored to be a small part of this great message board and truly enjoy helping people if I can. Thank you most sincerely for your comments, for helping out even though I know you can't afford it either, and most especially for being who you are.

Leanna if I was to "bump" this every night would you call me Billy?? LOL
Donation sent. It aint much but its something.

Steve, thank you not only for the donation but for the smile tonight as well.

Dana reports that his mom is finally out of the Intensive Care Unit so that's some great news. All those positive vibes are paying off -- keep 'em up.

Thanks again everybody! :wav: :love7:
