Everyone talks about small and large bolt patterns. I am confused. They write 5X4 as the small. My 63 has 5X3 3/4 so my question : is there 3 bolt patterns?

Thanks

No, look at this and re-measure.

See, here's the deal. Those measurements are by necessity "a cheat", because you can't easily measure exactly what the name says, which is BOLT CIRCLE

The "bolt circle" is exactly what the name implies -- the diameter of a circle which intersects the centers of all bolts.

If you were to do something like.............take a sheet of paper, press it lightly against your studs, say, on the rear, so that you now have a paper pattern, and then sit down with a compass and create a circle through all 5 studs, you would find that the circle is exactly 4 or 4 1/2" diameter, depending.

Found this, which illustrates. The circle described by the dotted lines will measure exactly whatever bolt circle (diameter) you have.
