here's one for you guys...
but first, the back story
as some of you know, i teach a 4th through 6th grade sundayschool class at my Church
we are slowly going through the Book of John, and last week we were in chapter 6 verse 45
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
i was trying to explain how God draws everyone BUT it is our personal responsibility to responds to God's drawing
this is exemplified in the cross reference of Hebrews 4:2
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
and that got me thinking about when i was younger, before i became a Christian
and Nol came to mind (whose full name was Arnol Kox, but those who knew him called him Nol....or the Screaming Jesus)
you see back then i studied in the big city, the same city that Nol preached in, day in and day out
and i was more interested in beer, girls, pot, and heavy metal then in anything Nol had to say
so in those days, i fit in the group that is mentioned in Hebrews who heard the Gospel, but didnt believe it.
anyway, im thankful to God for second chances (and third and fourth) because one day i did believe the Gospel
so, back to my sundayschool class, i tend to use pictures to try to get my point across and catch and keep the kids' attention
so here is the picture i used with the above story, Nol, as i remember him
