Today’s project took just a little longer than anticipated….. Replacing a LSD in a gm 8.6 rear axle….. The rain didn’t help either……… Ultimately I had to cut the carrier and the spider gear to remove the pin…..

I think they're being used as fresh air intakes from the grills on the sides of the body.
