I found an old cast iron plett pan at a yard sale today for $8. A bit rusty, but not in terrible condition.

A bit of wire wheel work and a couple of coats of seasoning and it’s in good shape now.

I didn’t buy it for it’s intended purpose of making Swedish pancakes or hamburger sliders (although I could use it that way).

I grabbed it to use as a heat diffuser for the gas burners when using standard aluminum clad cookware to even out the heat and eliminate hotspots from the gas burners.

Here are a couple of examples…

Talk about good old days.
Around here this is the current trend on 4x4 pick ups

Tires stickin' 6" outa the wheel wells and no mud flaps.
My friend Chris built a V8 Vega, narrowest GM diff he could find, wheels with lots of backspace, still had 2" out of the wheel well.
A CHP officer stopped him on an overpass over the I 10 near Ontario Airport for that 2" of tire. Chris looked in his side view mirror, the officer was resting his foot on the tire while he wrote the ticket  From the off road experience I've had, these new guys take those 4x4s anywhere but sand dunes, like the desert or forests, those $500 rims are toast. Them 40 series tires provide no protection for those rims.
