Rarest A-Body Option?

-
Sunroofs A-Bodies are not terribly rare- I have 2. 73 and 75
Mod Tops and engine call-outs are extremely rare.
A painted roof would probably be the rarest if they ever offered it on an A-Body.
Anybody ever hear of a Mopar with A/C with heater delete?

My 1971 Swinger has a two-tone paint, bright red bottom and a white top. The two-tone is a dealer installed option.....it is listed on my Bill of Sale.

OK, it's time for someone (more qualified than me) to make a list of factory options vs. dealer add ons or packages and see where we are with this.
As for the painted roof, I think it was an option. Seems I've seen one myself and MCG or someone had an article on a Duster like this a year or so ago.
I've seen a silver vinyl top 67 Dart GT, supposedly a rare color.

I think some options are based on location. Our Hawaiian members have a lot of cars with heater delete, I`d guess they would also have A/C. Cars headed to the northern market likely had fewer cars equipped with A/C. Cars for the southern market could have a (white painted top) for help with heat dissipation.

Yeah that sounds about right. Also dealerships spent a lot of time installing power windows and a/c in cars after they were purchased. That is why the switches look so much like GM or Ford and have a crank delete plugs on the door panels. This was going on until the 80's. Also you could spec a car as you like and not based on a "package" too.

I remember my brother ordered a 68 Ford Torino GT with a 4sp, manual steering and power disc brakes in black an without a/c. He walked to work for 8 weeks waiting for its arrival. All his friends didn't understand the need for disc brakes he recalls.

Mine's got one. The C/P dealer that I worked at ordered every car with one. Kept the thieves from easy pickings. If they wanted something they had to work a bit harder at it.
After a couple cars had their windows broken to access the inside release, we started to remove the inside hardware and tuck it up behind the cluster. When the car sold, we put it back.
They never figured that one out.

Factory D/Dart 1966. Supposedly only 50 were made. The water gets muddied a bit because Mopar put out a bulletin that detailed a retro-fit for 274 4 bbl cars.

My second choice would be any sort of factory installed stereo radio. Would not include the cassette unit as it was not integral to the radio.

The 1966 Dart Owner's manual listed AM/FM radio, rear speaker, and reverb unit as dealer installed accessories. Does anyone know if the reverb unit was ever factory installed after 1966? When did Mopar quit offering it? I have only seen one, it was in a neighbor's 65 New Yorker.

speaking of heater delete, how about a factory original inner firewall panel for a heater delete car. ever seen another one?

Our first 67 notch had AM only with reverb

Swedefish: that canvas topped '64 Barracuda is known as the Landau, you can read about it here. Prototype. http://www.enbcom.com/cuda/stuff/landau.html

Nobody has mentioned this rare option on a '69 Barracuda: There's a guy here in Ottawa with a '69 Barracuda with fold down rear seat delete and rear carpet delete. So he's got a fixed rear seat and black cardboard type material lining the rear cargo area. Very strange.

I understand the IDEA of the thread, but forgetting the engine/trans thing, I still have to say the LO/BO cars. Technically, they were 270 models (Darts --look at the interior),. with radio AND heater delete one-piece plates, rear seat delete, outside rear-view mirror delete, no warranty (AKA "delete":-D), window mechanisms deleted, non-adjustable seat brackets and A-100 seats, how much more "oddball" parts do want to qualify as "rare" options? The Chrysler announcement for these cars called them for them to be "GT" cars but they actually used the 270 model for the build-up. Just because they were SO "one-off" type cars doesn't mean you should discount them........

65s, can´t thank you enough for giving me that link.
I´ve often come to think about that Barracuda, wondering if it was somebodys custom work or built by Chrysler.

Ive recently been parting out a 76 4 door dart in a local yard thats kinda amazing. Silver body,4 speed/slant six, antenna delete plug, radio delete plate, sure grip, reverse light, manual discs, and sway bar, ash, glovebox, ignition lights, rear defroster and switch, and map light.

i would try to get the build sheet on that car and take some pics. if it is a real car that wasn't put together by someone else then, that has to be rare. what was someone thinking when they ordered it??? welcome aboard by the way!
