Rear quarter panel destroyed

hmmmmmm I bet he finds this funny,he just got back from a vacation for being a smart :bootysha:now he can laugh at the fact he's BANNED!!!! goodbye idiot

Good enough!!!!!! We WON"T miss that idiot.

On another note The damage probably can be either fixed, or better yet cut it out and weld in a new lower 1/4 skin. Sorry to hear about your car man. I know that must hurt inside, but just go on from this point. Already done and cannot change what happened. You will get it fixed and she will look better than ever!!!!!

Sorry to see that. Right now I have a 340 Dart Sport in the shop that I'm replacing most of the quarter skin due to the same damage. The previous owner ran the left rear wheel off almost 20 years ago. Mine has a little more damage, though, since it's had 20 years to rust.
Hope you get it fixed soon. Glad no one was hurt.

Well have a good update on the dart. We bought a quarter panel from AMD and got to work fixing it now that the weather is better.

Gee it fun cutting big holes in the side of cars.

Lot more sanding hammering and cussing and it was ready for paint.

What do you think of the bumpers being body color instead of black? We thing it's a good improvement Her is what it looked like black.

So now we are getting close to done for the second time on this one and it will be on to mine.

Wow, dude. This bites. Glad it didn't flip the car or worse.

Couple questions, what did you use to cut the old panel out with?
I noticed in front of the rear tire, you cut above the bottom and then it looks like you ended up cutting it all the way (based on black paint from top to bottom). Any reason for this? Or is this a jedi-mind-trick?

Nice repair. And I think the body-color bumpers look better than black.

oh wait. now i see the cutoff wheel on your grinder.

What was causing the brakes to heat up?

wow that is such a beauty man. I'm really glad to hear nothing worse happened.

Good to see everything is back on track! I think it looks better with the bumpers painted to match!

Used a high speed air grinder wound up using the whole new panel, couldn't bring ourselves to start cutting on the new one so we cut the old one out to match the new one. We cut real slow and blew air on it to keep the cut from getting to hot.

Sweet Sweet Sweet!!!!! Nice work!!!!!

Nice to see you jump on it and get it done....looks great with body color bumpers.

Good to see it finished Stan the color matched up well:cheers:

um why is the green dart in your garage ?

Still waiting to for few odds and ends

My friend looked at the front end and gave it the :thumleft: thanks again

So did you haul the green monster away yet?

Not yet the green one is still there, I do need to get rid of it soon though. Might have to get the flame wrench out and haul it off a piece at a time.
Glad someone gets to use the inner fender assembly would have been a shame to see it go to the scraper.

SWEET car!! Only thing I'd do different is go with a flat black hood, black bumble stripe and chrome bumpers......I'm sure you'll get right on it:-D. Awesome job putting it back together too.

Just curious what size tires your running front and rear?

Front tires are 225 / 45ZR 17
Rear tires are 255 / 45ZR 18

Rims are 5-4.5 American Racing Torq Lite Polished
Fronts 17x8 Medium offset
Rears 18x8 Medium offset

Did you have to move the springs in at all to fit the 255s?

Congratulations Stan
I bet your son is glad to be back on the road again  and Yes!! the body color look's much better on the bumpers =P~=P~

Springs are in the stock location, we did do a little trimming on the lip of the wheel wells.

Congratulations Stan

Thanks Mike! We would have liked to have chromed the bumpers but the budget got used up on the repair so for now they'll remain painted.

I'm trying to talk Larry into a satin black butt stripe and 360 call outs on the scoops. But it looks great just like it is too!

i had this almost same thing happen to me just last few weeks ago. i took my 98 5.9 jeep with my car trailer to pick up the 73 # matching 340 car, and on the way back, i thought that i busted an axle. so i pull over and check everything. looked fine. started driving again, and as soon as i would hit like 35 mph, the rig would start swaying horribly. next exit was about 15 miles, so i said screw it and drove it. checked everything again and moved the car forward more thinking it was just not balanced right on the trailer. so as i walk back to the jeep, i see that 3 lug nots were missing from driver side rear tire! all of the broke the studs and all right off. so i tightened the last two and drove home with no problems. could of been much worse. but i am not the one who touched them last. a truck stop put 4 new tires on for me, and the shmuck never tightened them properly.
