Refreshing 360 after 10 years....

-
I wish my 360 would run a 10.81. I'd be so happy. It take a long time to wipe the smile off my face. Your Daughters Dart looked pretty impressive to me when I saw it make the one pass I seen on Saturday.

Only problem is the driver expects it to run faster......

Any possibility of getting all the specs on the motor, trans and what gear you run in the Dart? I want to make changes to my motor to increase the horse power. Just trying to decide on what to do. Thanks Ken

let see if I can remember...LOL

360 stock 3.58 stroke crank..11.2 to 1 compression.
H beam rods 630 grams
wiseco flat top pistons 540 gram plus pin actually MP pistons cost 200 bucks.
Hughes 6064 cam flat tappet
Eddy CNC heads with Crane 1.6 rocker
Hooker 5204 headers
904 with TA converter..flashes 5200 rpm
Dana 60 with 4.56 gears
Hoosiers 10 x 29 tire
Quick Fuel 950 not really a 950 on E85

Thanks very much for the info. With the trans is that foot braking it or trans brake?

All the cars are using Tranzact of Indy transbrakes..

okay thanks

Okay 70aarcuda I'm going to tell you what my current motor combo is and I want your opinion on what would be the best bang for the buck to increase my horse power. I want to try and leave the bottom end alone if possible. A cam change would be okay though. 73 360 bored 30 over, the block has been line honed and 0 decked as well factory crank and rods. KB107 pistons, factory oil pan and standard volume oil pump, double roller timing chain, the cam is a Hughes Engines HEH2832AL, factory stamp steel rocker arms, Edelbrock RPM Performer heads (out of box), the Enelbrock dual plane air gap intake, and a Holley Street Avenger 770 cfm carb. TTI headers and full exhaust. Trans is 727 nothing special there, torque converter is unknown as I got it free and no info on it. 8 3/4 rear with 3:55 gears. Tires are 255/60-15. Now I drive this on the street. Any and all opinions will be appreciated.

70408;

Is a converter, gear change OK and how much is to much gear ratio for you?

You have a fine foundation.

Well I thought they were important questions to ask and to know. The other question was posed to somebody else. They can answer, very qualified they are.

Finally working on replacement short block for the rering short block that does seems to want to seat rings ...but not making passes on it as the driver has been working on weekends. Should be running the old short block for last time this weekend....then the track shuts down for the summer...next race is in September.

Got the rings filed today...this tools make life alot easier....got the pistons loaded with rings ...wont be able to work on it again until next weeks...
Will bag up the old short block and keep it as an spare....I got another set of heads to put on it...

Ran car Saturday 10.90s in 102 heat. Engine change coming, new short block 3.58 crank coming out K1 4 inch crank going in, got set of kb744 .,040 pistons. Had to order new main and rod bearings. Take crank and all to machine shop later this week to get balance d.

New rotating assembling at machine shop getting balanced...K1 4 inch crank...scat 1 beam rods...KB 744 .040 pistons.....410 cubic inches...Will be using the Eddy heads that were just freshened up by IMM ....

Will have it in 71 Dart went racing returning in Sept...

I hope so...LOL....The world famous Fuster is getting a 408 that is very similar....

Machine Shop called..said the rotating assembly will be ready Monday afternoon.....Still gotta pull the OEM 3.58 crank out of block..bag it along with new rods and pistons for future use...

picked up the rotating assembly ...then went on vacation for a week..to the Pacific northwest....

balanced sheeted....bobweight is 1810 grams...10 grams more then the 360 that was going to be used.....KB pistons are not the lightest things out there.

Pickup the block on Friday....looks great....
Take the rotating assembling in this week to balance it....going with Scat i beam rods instead of the generic h beams that were in there for 10 yrs.
Old heads are on 410...need to figure out what to use on this thing

YOU are a machine 70aarcuda! pull motors out, put them back in, pull them out again! im just reading into this post and im blown away! Great work and keep it up!!

Dont tell my boss...but i am working less then a mile from the garage...easy to slip over there and get a few thing done during working hours...as she is only on the project a couple days a week...

as far as heads....I have a set of eddy magnums that were ported about 6 yrs ago...along with the intake manifold...couple of years ago i bought a set of the hughes rockers for aluminum magnum heads....just got around to doing the thread inserts the past couple of days...

heads have brass inserts in the pushrod slots and the head bolts next to the intake ports...and the MOpar M1 single plane....

waiting for the rotating assembly to come back.....

I took the night off.....went home and took a nap...lol
