Most were green but I used the red "performance" model on my '65 Bracket Valiant. Anyone have a picture of one installed on a motor back then?

Thanks, that's what I thought. I was asking about the red fiberglass ones (horsepower saving), that's what I installed on my car back in the '70's. I guess they did not hold up forever.

Yeah it was the green one, it came with a bunch of parts. I threw it on and ot worked good probably because I never rev'd that one over 5k. The ends started to go. Once the glass is cracked...the fiber gives.

I believe it was made special for the bicentennial.
      Package was dated 1976.

well my fiberglass unit has been holding up at 7000 rpm since the mid '70s, but I have a small Moroso lower drive pulley. advertised as horsepower saving- but a dyno test on a 500hp engine=flexalite 1018 lowprofile flex fan -25hp, 418 one piece plastic -30hp, clutch fan -6hp

Hmmmmm......I spent about 20 min. in the lot at National Trails Raceway soldering up the rad. on a 340 challenger for a guy that drove it from SW PA to the venue.....w/4.56's!
The rad. wasn't the only victim, the 'glass hood had a nice corresponding hole through it as well.................................

Those fans scare me. I use the Flex a lite 1 piece fiberglass. Probably no safer but makes me feel better.

I bet most of the ones that break have been abused by gorillas, I am careful and take my sweet time when I work on my chit
