I will be out there in Sept depending on Weather. Some friends and 3 cars. My Charger, a friend's Lakester and another friends streamliner. My first event to drive and debut for my car. Too many rules as each are different per class. Anything from a 50cc motorcycle to my buddies 'liner shooting for 500mph.

They are Harmon marine from the late 70s, Gale banks copies. Supposed to be the best flowing water cooled log style manifold there is. They are lake water cooled and are first in line in the coolant path. I did a LOT of porting on them to get them to match my exhaust ports and it was not easy making power with em.
 
So is this a standing start 2.5 mile average? Or do you get to your speed in the 1/4 and stay at it?
 
Two more, first one 67 GTX and 61 Chrysler 300 with the 413 2 4s, running fro 30 mph on. Both drivers said 140-150 after about a mile, had to let off, oil truck in road. The other 67 GTX boys daddy had money, anyway was clocked 153 going down I 95 by state police, couldn’t catch him so the set up road block on the interstate (late at night). Impounded the car and Jimmy went to jail, grandaddy had both out the next day. Boy was 16 years old. This was back when police had the radar boxes set up on side of road, BC stuff. It’s a wonder we’re alive today with the tires we had back then, heck my buddy with his 68 383 GTS raced with RE-CAPS, car stayed over 100 mph except to fill up with 260 SONOCO

a bodys are drag limted long before 165 mph 99.9 stock

ive been 6100 in drive with a 27 inch tire and 3.23s with a built 340 and nitrous i had plenty of motor left

I had an ‘ANEMIC’ Chevy (3.5” bore/3.48” stroke) 267 small block wind up a 1980 impala to 135mph. **** for compression. 4000 pounds all year long.
And you don’t think a 340 powered Mopar can do 150mph?

My 1973 340 b body has pegged past the 150mph Speedo. LOW COMPRESSION!

Squeazed off 17.5mpg driving 200 miles averaging 45-55mph…
…During that 17.5mpg run a 1957 Chevy with a 454 and a 700r4 OVERDRIVE TRANSMISSION wouldn’t let me pass him on the back roads-lead foot buried into the floor. (Had to back off the left lane when traffic was coming, I was going to pass him if it killed me.)
It isn’t always top notch parts and combinations that provide performance.

I've done 140 in a stock 70 roadrunner.... Neener, neener, neener...
 
In 68 I had a Honda 305 Super Hawk. One night I wanted to see how fast it would go, Rt 3 had just been four laned with a long straight stretch. Laying chest on the tank (no helmet) my nose on speedo I got it to 105 mph, over 9 grand on tach. It was very unstable, aerodynamics I guess, I came to my senses and let off. Thinking back it’s a wonder we made it this far with the dumb **** we did.
 
fastest top end car i was ever in was a 71 new yorker 440 it would shift outta kick down at 105 and pull hard . We were lettin her hang one night and the cops were parked in a garage parking lot and we went by he stoped us and showed the radar at 143 man did my friend get in **** that night , they took his licence for a year and his insurence went up 3 fold . The cops called my parents, my father was not impessed , it was a big **** show as we were both 16 years old .
