Restoring my 1970 Duster

-
Exactly one year after the beginning of parting out the Ruster Duster I have this situation:
- see pics before plus:
- radio, speakers and motor antenna is build in and work fine
- both doors are completed and close fine
- both front fenders are mounted
- one headlight is placed

I´m very happy with this situation ! :blob:

So after the last work to complete the car outside / inside + fill up the brake system -> I think I put the engine into the car at the end of february.
Oh, I need a seperate oil cooler for the transmission also...
After this I have to complete the electrical work at the front + engine,
than it´s time to try to start the engine ......

Greetings from Germany,
and thanks for reading this short story
Peter

Gorgeous car and great work on it! You will be the envy of every male for 1,000 miles in every direction. Especially when they hear it fire up...

Thanks for replies...
Till the last Weekend I built in the loudspeakers at the rear and the bench seat there. Doors are completed with the inner paneels, but the chrom on the window handle and door opener was not good for polishing, so I painted them in the colour of the car outside (green) - I think that looks good.
Now I have to change the tires, because of they are too old and have many cracks, so that´s too dangerous.
The rims are also in bad condition, so I have to bring them to sandblasting and after this to give them a new colour.

Greetings
Peter

Since today the Duster has his grille again.
Some small work there is to do on the chrome parts to bring them on the absolutely correct place, but it looks already that the Duster has a new "face".

So, winter is always here and nothing is gone forward on the car.
Dislike it !!! :banghead:
Only the wheels have a new color + tires. Looks good with the overhault caps + new chrom bolts. Now only the outer chrome rings I have to install.
The engine ist still waiting, but I need dry weather ( and no more snow !!! ) to pick it up into the car, because i have to do this outside the garage.

The time was come to put in the engine again last week, when snow goes away ! So a friend an I had this little work done in 1,5 hours, everythings fits and so it was an easy work.
Now I have to complete the engine, give all the fluids to it, install the exhaust again and hope the engine will start right up !

Hi Folks,

time is running fast and the RusterDuster is now ready for the streets !
Much things I had to do in the last weeks, but at the end I´m satisfied with the result - have a look the the pics from yesterday:

Greetings from Leipzig, Germany

also to Kenny Wayne Shepperd ( because my car is a nearly clone from his car - ok, but with a smaller budget )

(Ich weiss, mein Duetsch ist schlect...)

Hi folks,
at first : a happy and lovely new year to all fabo-members !

In december 2013, about 20 month later since the beginn of parting out the Duster and after the last weeks with an leeking transmission till to the overhauling the trans and with an alu oil pan for it I could go to the technical check to get the licence plates for the street.
(I don´t want to this with that leeking transmission )
So I lost 6 weeks since the car was completed till the certification can start.

Now we have dry weather here in Leipzig, so I could drive the car sometimes ... at one sunny day I took this pictures, so the metallic color
looks better than without sun... hope you like what you see :

The first is my Duster, the second pic is the car from which I made a clone...

All the best !
Peter

Hi there,
thats not the end of the Duster-Story between Kenny Wayne Shepherds and my car...because I could met him live in Hamburg, Germany !
That´s crazy and I can´t believe it till now.

Before I went to his concert there I could have a short meet with him after the soundcheck. So he had a little bit time for a small talk and while this I showed him some pics of my 1970 Duster.
He was amazed about the car, also about the fact, that this car exist´s only two times ... one in US and one in Germany....

Have a look to a video at You tube with the Duster in background: Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band - Never lookin´back

2 pics from the Duster now + 1 pic with KWS live on stage in Hamburg, Germany

Greetings to all,

Peter

Before the next project ( see new project: 1938 Plymouth ) is coming to Germany ( Beginn of December I think ), I have to make some work on the Duster:
1. change the 318 to a new rebuilt 391 stroker
2. put in a pwr steering into the Duster for better handling in town-traffic

Peter

done !:burnout:

first pic shows the 391 in the car

second shows power steering lines on the gearbox

Peter
