Hi all,

I recently bought a left and right hand rethreading die (not a thread tapping die but a thread restorer)

They were in the $7.00 each range IIRC.

I used them on lug studs that had been in the weather since 76. The lugs cleaned up so well that I can hand screw lug nuts on all the way to the hub.

First I put them on the correct way and ran them in and out, then put them on backwards and cleaned up the last little bit by the hub flange the right way cant get to.

I got them from IMSBOLT.COM

Don't forget "thread files." They can be very useful. The old school "normal" thread file is rectangular overall, and squared into 4 working surfaces which are divided in the middle of the file, lengthwise. This gives you 8 separate surfaces, so each file can accomodate 8 different thread pitches / threads per inch. And, they will work on either LH or RH threads

These are very useful for oddboll sized bolts like 9/16, for axle spindles, and for truck 4x4 front and rear floating axle spindles, which are very large OD
