Road Racing Duster 6.4 Hemi E85 6 speed Ms3 Pro Evo EFI

Wheel on front right is a 18x11.5 it’s way to close to the brace, a wheel like this would need more positive offset to move it outward and then fender flares would really be in play. On the other side I should be okay with a 285, but I’m starting with a 275 and will check clearances. I have looked at the possibility of needing to notch, If it needs to be notched, I will figure something out or go more positive offset and custom flares that go with the style build

Just run a tube tucked tight instead or put the tube in the engine compartment. Would suck to flare or more flare for something with easier alternative.

Some of these cars you're posting for inspiration I must admit are pretty cool.

sounds like mock up tires would help.

I need some. Where do you find cheap worn out 275, 295, 315 18” tires?
I didn’t lol. My mock up set is a set i got from someone auto crossing and im not cheap. Being cheap and playing with cars doesn’t workout. I worked with porsches for almost 5 years. Mopars are dirt cheap compared to air cooled cars. But if you just want mock up, check fb ads, offer up, craigslist etc. also try calling some lambo dealers for old tires

Thank you, i thought the same. I do greatly enjoy a nicely restored mopar and or car, but an original grandmas car only has value to me if it can do what I want it to and going fast and turning is the goal, so if i can get it to do what I want AND well… well then I’ve done something

I need a set for mock-up on my falcon and went to americas tire and asked for some takeoffs. They were worn out but worked for mock-up. Surprisingly the guy said “take whatever you need we’re going to get rid of them anyway” and didn’t charge me anything.

That’s a good deal. I’ll probably do something similar when i go bigger too.

Mustangs. You probably won't find them with much bigger than 275, but a lot times they'll have 255's with a higher profile that are taller anyway, and taller is the bigger issue than wider on these cars.

Go find yourself a set of Mustang Bullits with tires on them still and use those, then buy the tires you want and keep the rims.

I have a set of 275/40/17’s. They fit front with a lot of clearance.

But I want to mock up 295/35/18 or 315/30/18 :D

They get charged to dispose. So you’re saving them money.

do you find anything over 275?

Yea I did. I got a 275/40-18, a 285/35-18
And a 295/35-18 all were off brand no name tires but they worked for measuring. And I took all of them back when I was finished so they could dispose of them for me.

Nice!

Dang. I would have went down there and took some of those off your hands.

Still need something? I could check a few of the tire stores around and see what they have.

Thanks for offering. I should do my due diligence and check around here local first, before asking someone else. I'll get back to you.

*update*

Been double checking parts inventory to begin installing the brake lines. Thankfully I did this, I’m missing the 8.75 distribution block and I need to get a drum brake front distribution block for my 4 wheel brake setup. Unfortunately, fortunately, @drdiff is on vacation, so I can’t order my stuff until the 4th. So I’ll be holding off on the brakes and getting the rear chunk rebuilt with a 1350 yoke and solid sleeve. I want to rebuild the chunk myself, but I’m more of a watch you as you do it and then I understand type of guy. I can watch videos too, but sometimes finding a good one is a pain too.

So, I’m now looking at getting a little hobby welder. Apparently the nee HF titanium and vulcan stuff ain’t too shabby. My belief, as discussed with a friend is that most of the items sold now are “assembled” if that, in US and parts are outsourced, so the HF stuff is pretty good for what it is.

When I get the welder, I will be figuring out seat mounting position in accordance to Dash and Steering wheel, originally I was pretty low, especially being bolted directly to the floor. I want to make sure I don’t rip through the floor, which is highly unlikely, but if I can sure the seat mounting up, it’s one less thing to think about when pushing the car.

So it looks like the items I again will be working on are installing the Aeromotive Fuel rails and maybe… the Holley Billet covers.

This car is my prototype, so paint and fine touches are not of my concern, UNLESS it’s work “to be done” then I will proceed with care, otherwise this car is going to be tested and tuned and my “hope” is to build another 72 or demon with a similar setup and maybe different engine combo or something.

photos MAY follow. Work first!

Hey James, did you ever end up selling all your stuff or finishing it?
Never sold it. Couldn’t find a buyer. It’s all sitting in various places. Engine and trans at my house. The car and suspension is at a buddies house who was supposed to do some bodywork for me. Gave him 3 grand. Nothing happened. I don’t know. I’m in limbo with it all.
That’s why I started messing around with trucks like my power wagon. Much easier to build. Lol

Well I’m doing my own thing meow, so if you’re interested, stop by my house in SJ. I’m doing a 69 Camaro next for a friend. Doing one car at a time once this girl is running and driving

Update:

- Ordered parts from Cass “Dr. Diff” to finish up my chunk and get it ready to install in the car.
a. Ordered the Forged 1350 Pinion Yoke.
b. Ordered basic install kit with solid crush sleeve.
c. Also picked up a rear 8.75 distribution block and stainless line, front all disc/ drum distribution block, friction modifier for the Sure Grip.

2. Took the chunk over to Rear End Specialties in Santa Clara and had them install the stuff. I’d love to learn how to do this eventually, but the car hasn’t been running since 2015 and it can wait to be learned. The guy there is friendly and knows his stuff, mopar too. It was $400 to get the stuff installed and lash checked, little more than I wanted, but I’m not gonna complain long haha.

3. Ordering all my fuel lines, fittings, E85 based fuel cell bladder, couple tools for wiring with Deutsche connectors, and my wiring harness.

After these couple of orders, only thing “major” will be the driveshaft. Tires I have are date coded out of date, but they’ve been stored in doors and out of direct heat, so I will use them up for a bit and then order new ones ready.

I held off on doing the valve covers and rails because I was missing some fittings for the back of the fuel rails (aftermarket), but with these orders I should be good to go. Going to work from the bottom up.

Brakes
Driveline
Suspension
Engine
Wiring

Update: gotta love living some what near to Summit Racing with quick shipping. All parts needed in by tomorrow. Just need a good swift kick in the *** to get the hands dirty and we will be off.

Plan is the same… brakes first.

Then went to another air cooled Porsche shop …

This is how I imagine how old Porsche cars are tuned ….
