Per a post from Mike Finnegans personal page and on his YouTube channel, Discovery, which now owns Motortrend has officially ended Roadkill after 13 seasons along with all the other Motortrend shows that they just bought earlier this year. Cited 45 billion dollars in debt and no foreseeable future way to become profitable.

No word yet on what this does for events like Roadkill nights, Hotrod Drag week or Hotrod Power Tour as technically Discovery owns the rights to those as well.

Can't say that I'm all that surprised about the shows, as I can't recall the last time I've seen a new episode of any of them.

Then again, there's supposed to be a new season of "Roadworthy Rescues" starting in a week or three. Could that be MotorTrend's "swan song"?

Anyway, it was fun while it lasted.

(Edit: I sure hope they keep the Power Tour, as I'm really trying to get Bazza and his VG out on one of 'em.)

I guess not much interest, only old guys watch probably guys in their 50s and older etc. not enough market to make $$$

SOooo.. what are the streamed car shows on Discovery+ that are worth watching and paying for????????
I mean shows like RoadKill Garage, etc that us "OLD" people like to watch!!??????????/

Don't know about you (or anyone else, for that matter), but I ain't paying a damn thing for any of that streaming **** stuff, as I already have to pay the cable company just to watch the damn TV.

Damn corporate greed is getting out of hand here, and given the changes (and blackouts) on the sports channels lately (Fox Sports -> Bally's Sports -> FanDuel Network), I'm about "this close" to telling them all to kiss my ***!

So why would Discovery buy MotorTrend last year if they were 45 billion in debt?? I have not seen any new MotorTrend shows, but I don't pay to stream, just what comes on MotorTrend on DISH.

I guess I need to get acct. for UTube and watch my car stuff there.

HotRoad mag has gone from their age old monthly to a quarterly high much larger quality mag (expensive paper).

I think FroedBurger retired, the guy on Engine Masters maybe retired, Dulcich bought a dyno and added another shop? and I don't really know what Fennegan does to make a $ ????
:BangHead:

Hemmings Classic Car and Muscle Car rags are going away.

Darn!!!! Those are my favorites and very economical. Hemmings sent me a letter offerring me the BIG Hemmings a few months ago for darn near nothing. It has some nice articles but too heavy to hold in my lap on the throne!!

I switched to You Tube tv a while back. Best thing I ever did. So many channels-can't ever begin to watch them all. A lot of other car channels and then you can always watch You Tube videos. If you can think up a subject-you can find a video.

can find a video.
I watch YT more than regular TV. The commercials on YT are killer but at least you can click "Skip" at some point... you can look anything up and find it. I had a Pontiac T 37 a 1971 model once and I found one on YT it brought back memories as I dont have pics of my car...

I thought Discovery only bought the shows. I would be surprised if Drag Week or Power Tour are in danger, pretty sure MT is still a separate company from Discovery.

I wonder if Discovery bought the RK shows to kill them. Too much competition?

Now I have to decide if I want to keep the subscription just so I can watch the old episodes.

Can you post a link to his YouTube channel? It doesn’t pull up when I search for it.
Looks like he took it down, my guess some sort of NDA but here’s Frieburgers

Right now, I’m grandfathered in under a 2.99 deal for the year from last years Black Friday sale but that expires next week. Not sure what the renewal is but I’m probably not gonna renew.

I pay $6 a month, don't think it is a special deal or anything. Wouldn't be surprised if it went up even with the cancelled shows though.

Not bad but still only reason I subscribed was for motortrend

All those shows have pretty much run their course. Plus they all pretty much have their own YouTube channels anyway. Sad to see them go, but we won't miss much.
