Those heads sure ate pretty! I put in a message for a pair myself.
Who doesn't love a good pair???

Agree, I think the valve train is where they skimped on their newer stuff. Our Gen3 Hemi is strong with cross bolted mains but no extra bolts like the LS.
See something that says 318 on that Auminum 318 4 bbl intake.
Pulled a valve cover, looks clean inside! Rockers look almost new...can’t be originals can they? Double springs...
There is a big “360” and looks like a 915F? Exhaust manifold number was no surprise, 318/360 truck.

That's not double springs, it's a spring and a damper on the inside... That's normal for stock 340 cam engines.
However, I would recommend that you replace them as it looks like this one has some cracks....

318 with good heads on it and 340 springs...probably cam too.
Dont let it rust now ;)
The intake is an SP2P-318. Small ports for trucks and mileage.
Was in Tulsa yesterday helping a mech. friend w/ a plumbing problem , he had a late model GTO that had a rod kicked out in it , and was changing out a ls that he was going to rebuild . The 6 bolt mains looked impressive , All the crap that it takes to make one run is a loser to me tho !4 top, 2 through the side. Ford side oiling style...lol
Chevy is keeping with the hot rod crowd, they know how to stay in the picture beyond vehicle lines.
View attachment 1715383211 View attachment 1715383212 View attachment 1715383213 I took pictures of the SP2P that I have. The last picture really shows how much smaller the ports are in comparison to the stock 318 size.
A LD4B would be a better choice if you are looking for more performance over economy.
That's why I bought the one I have, to try on my Ramcharger. If I can only find a day to get it on. If it sucks, I'll throw a performer on it.Thanks for showing the details and pictures of the SP2P intake. First time I have seen that one, now I know what it is about.
Yes very small runners. Heard they were built back in the day during the Gas Crunch days, sold to improve gas mileage was the main intention.

I'd be interested in more info and pictures of that intake manifold. How tall is it? An LD4B is too tall for my A100 engine cover on my 273. PM me if you want.I’ll probably pull it apart eventually...I don’t need the intake, carb , and exhaust manifolds... those items will be sold
Basically it's a pos, they'd still use that tech/theory if it was worth a **** .lolCool, Good info
So that 318 alum intake would match up to stock 318 heads (and the 302 heads) for good port flow. Just like the LD4B 318 alum 318 intakes.

OK, sounds like the SP2P-318 Intake is built for mileage not performance like gliderrider06 says.
LD4B is a better choice if you can find them for the 318.
They are like pooping through a straw. Teem that intake with a drivers side exhaust manifold and you have a recipe for disaster. LOLBasically it's a pos, they'd still use that tech/theory if it was worth a **** .lol
I'd rather use a webber progressive 2 barrel and 1 1/2 inch primary headers with all kinds of vac advanc. Probably about the worst thing edelbrock designed. Imho
Let's just say this... when you go to swap meets and see the guy with the big blue tarp littered with intake manifolds for sale....mostly... those are all the banished pieces of **** nobody wants..and you can count on seeing the sp2p intakes...should have called it "the asphyxiator"
