I'm here
Considering building a 318 that revs and likes to move it move it! I've got options for heads, roller block. Maybe a Victor 340 intake... I already have a built 904 ready to go with RMVB.

Do it! I'll be watching. Stuff you have laying around? New stuff? What's the budget?

When I saw the title, I thought you were changing your screen name.

Solid cam, roller would be better. Good springs, roller rockers big cam. But wait, the 273's liked to rev and they did it with stock parts and none of those parts were real racy. Dual point may be. Cam was mild, 4 barrel was small exhaust was restrictive, cam was a solid flat tappet but all the 273 cams were back then. Ya and they revved to 5500 and not past 7-8 like the tales that are told. LOL

will be following this.
Lets see if it happens..... I have the engine among other things. Wouldn't take a lot for me at this point. Good pistons and a little machine work. Shouldn't break the bank. I have a friend (acquaintance) that raced stock eliminator that ran 318's, shifted at 7200 rpm's. He may have a piece or two for me as well.

It would be roller cam. I have the roller block, it only makes sense at this point

I believe the key to high revving engines is a well balanced bottom end. And good air flow of course lol

I there a time frame??...
my time. Depends on how much time I have in between all my projects. It would fancy me to make a pass with it in the fall. This engine will like a 8" converter.

Well.... I know you have an idea floating in your brain.
So what's ya thinking ?

you mean as it's purpose? Or the actual build? i have adjustable rockers already, so a solid roller cam is in my brain. What stinks is I also have a brand new set of Comp hyd roller lifters as well. I don't really need anything over .500 lift (or much over) to spin and make power. I need a lot of duration and at the right time. I may not know how the cam events need to work for this particular engine, but I know a guy that's done it and he does as he has run and arranged his own custom cams

Wrong way to build an engine.
Decide on limits, parameters [ eg, how rough an idle you can tolerate ] & THEN select the parts to do the job.

im assuming your using the speed master heads on this? gonna need to spin a 318 harder than 7200 to get the most from them heads!! thats gonna need a solid roller a hyd roller ant gonna like the rrrr's
