Does anybody know anything about these nuts. Sat. before last we took the cars to a car show over in Indiana. The judge was getting ready to judge our 3 cars when I went up and asked him a question. We got to talking about the cars and he asked me if I was going to take the 69 Valiant to the Nationals this year. Told him I didn't know yet. He told me that the only thing the car needed to go there was the factory spring hose clamps. The corbin clamps and he said I needed a special nut that goes on the top of the shock bolts. I wasn't aware that there were special nuts that went on the top of the shock bolts. Said it was like a lock nut. Does anybody know what he was talking about and where I can get them. I would like to put them on just in case I did decide to go to the Nationals with this car.

I am stripping a belvedere that has them no ide if they are the same. they are thinner nuts that go on top of the normal shock nut. Prob around 1/4 thick.

If they are the ones I am looking for would you be interested in selling them to me. Bill

Let me look again if they are on both side. Yeah no problem if you want them. Most of the cars when they changed the shocks they never went back on.

Yeah, I would be interested in them if you have them. This guy who judged the car was in a Mopar club and I guess he knew his stuff. I would have never thought anything about that. let me know,Bill

Sure will be taking the front end off today. This car will be a shell on a trailer soon to the scrap yard.

Will do. I will take a pic of them installed for a reference for you also.

I rised the lock nut for you in one pic. These are just stamped steel but prob original.

They are yours. want the regular nuts also? 12 shipped?

That's what you guys are talking about... We used to bust them off to replace the shocks...

Who is going to expect them to be on a car this old???

Nobody is going to expect them to be on a car this old, however when the car was judged at the show last Sat. the judge asked me if I was going to the Nationals with it and just mentioned that the nuts on the shocks and the spring clamps was the only thing he said that was missing from what he could tell that came from the factory that I didn't have on the car. I have restored the 69 Valiant as close as I could to the way it rolled off the line. I don't know.

I hear you, but I think it's anal what people will do to chase the "factory resto" look. Date coded alternators, regulators, and starters... Many of them were replaced with daily usage, you can't expect the original factory piece to be working this far after it's been made...

Just having one that looks like the original and works is all that matters to me....

Do they expect factory air to still be in all the tires???

Well I am not going that far as to have a date coded alt. or starter because what is on here still is original from the factory. This car only has 70,000 original miles on it now. But if I can spend a little money and have an item on my car that someone who knows what they are talking about picked out of the blue, why not. This car is mostly shown at car shows and driven there and back so it isn't a daily driver. Matter of fact it has pulled a trophy at every show. I know to some people that doesn't mean anything but when I can take one of my cars to a show and it will pull " Best Mopar " as my Duster did 2 weeks ago it says that my son and I have done a great job in what we do. So it kinda makes me more anal about my cars than most people.

Every time I see the title of this post I get a mental picture of a battery and jumper cables. :D

Probably just a guy thing.
