Show Your Big Block A body!

This is my 74 Duster 383/ 915 heads/ 727 Torqueflite/ 3500 stall/ Purple shaft .509 hyd cam/ Msd ignition system/ when I purchased it the previous owner took the 8 3/4 rear out a replaced it with a 9" Ford 3.89 posi. I still have alot of work but a good base to start with. The engine has alot of nice parts eventhough it wasn't that pretty of a build. I guess some racers only care about speed not looks. Was told by the previous owner that he had it at the track about three times and it was running 12.70, but dont know till I get it out there. Right now its sitting with a guide coat and needs to be painted. Will be pulling the engine and getting the engine bay ready for paint along with the bottom of the hood. while I have the engine out and its at the paint booth I plan on getting some head work done and adding some 1.6 rollers. then will be taking it to the track.

Before going to the 1.6 rockers I'd suggest doing a clearance (valve to piston) check to make sure the previous owner didn't build her to tight. With that .509 cam and flat top pistons, if that's what's in it, and zero deck you might be at your minimum. Ask me how I know, I'm kind of partial to 383's at least for the Demon.

Will do, thanks.

Mine with flat tops (stock style, no valve reliefs) and .020" in the hole, only had .080" intake clearance with a .465" cam and a 2.08" valve. If you have the .509 cam, you probably have some pistons with notches. Let us know how it goes at the track. I have 3 weeks to get mine together...

Very nice, I like the way you have the black on the hood and bumper. Gives it a very sharp look. Nice Set-up.

My new one! 440!
