Looking for someone with info on headers for a 1968 barracuda with a small block chevrolet engine. any info would be appreciated! thx

You might could get away with those block hugger headers, they just point straight down and are pretty universal, dont have mine here or i could run out and look to see if they would work.

I can see this thread go south real quick.

Probably have better luck on a chevy site, guys around here like their mopars to have Chrysler engines.

just get some of them pullin truck headers and stick em straight thru the hood :banghead:

Ram manifolds would work the best-center drop

Yet these Mopar folks will use GM R4 and 4R transmissions and Chevy pistons or piston rods and give you all a How-To without blinking an eye.

Talk about hypocrisy..

Hot rodding is all about making it work. Installing an off the shelf chevy piston is part of hot rodding. Installing a whole chevy engine is lame.

Sure would be a lot cheaper to install a Chevy engine.
We need to talk to TTI about some headers for this swap.:D

Back inthe day we had a dirt modified and had our headers smashed and needed a set for the next day. A friend had a set of mopar headers when he tried a mopar and we cut our flanges from the chevy and put them on the mopars (took alittle doing)and we ran the next day and the rest of the year!!! I believe we left alittle pipe to connect to. Just food for thought. I agree can see this going way south here!!!

MiradaMegaCab, Hot Rodding is doing whatever one's gray matter tells them to do and has no boundaries. If a modification is beyond one's measure, that person would be called a Restorer.

Don't worry guys I have a 70 challenger that will be all mopar(R5 to be precise) already have car and motor(421 small block) with 700r4 tranny paid for so I figured what the hell!

itll be hated by chevy people....itll be hated by mopar people.... no one will like it...lol. good luck with your red headed step child. all the best,

james

And most of us wouldn't do any of that...aside from worrying about COST. I personally would never use a glide.. I like my transmissions to stay together for a full season, not after a few passes. and I darn sure wouldn't use a chevrolet connecting rod.Why would I? Chrysler based connecting rods are superior, from rod length to structure, to the grade of metal used..An LA connecting rod big end is as beefy as a big block chevrolet connecting rod (exotic aftermarket pieces aside).Period.just saying. In the short time here I figured this would be a like an internet sanctuary for chrysler guys, seeing as I myself have to listen to chevrolet this and chevrolet that non stop... not to mention at the track. Now here too?! haha.. oh well.

At anyrate, good luck.geta set of chrysler hedders for your barracuda and reflange them for the chevrolet.Else, mabey you should try a chevrolet site, they always like it when guys put chevrolet motors in other manufacturers cars.. definately is alot cheaper.

ps: Wasn't trying to be a big ol' meanie, but... guys putting a chevrolet in one of the most infamous mopars ever... blasphemy.

I don't like to see Ferd, Chuvvy, Stupidbaker, or Audi engines installed in "my" old Mopars

But the serious answer is this:

Get a set of headers that fit the Cuda body just as if you were putting in a 340

Get yourself a set of blank Chivvy flanges.

Cut the Mopar flanges off the Mopar headers, and after CAREFULLY determining the angle of the dangle, weld the Chivvy flanges to yer Mopar headers.

I used to run CHEVY headers in my old Landcruiser Fj-40 variously had 360, 340, 318 Mopar smallblock in the thing. So mine had Mopar flanges welded to Chivvy SB headers

This is an easy mod, and you can either MIG or gas--weld the flanges, or even braze them.

Lol,until the chev pukes it's guts out at the track...

At least the mopar engine will get you home after a long track day. Infinitly more reliable
