I walked back from next door fixing up a surprise 50th birthday gift for my sister inlaw:love5: and my yard was going crazy with bird screaming and all around my boat.:-k
So I walk out to see what the heck the problem was.
I new something was up :rambo:
I looked over my head and there she was 6' 4'' long of nothing but snake
I backed of slowly and looked at where she was heading :angry4:
So I walked in the house next to my computer and grabbed my stick and fed him some #7 1/2 shot of led
I am happy with having flying squirrel's in my back yard and she was heading straight to there nest inside the old tree.
She sounded like a bail of hay hitting the ground
My squirrel's will know have there youngsters grow up.:happy10:

The boy holding her is 5'7'' tall and they took it for a skin

I thought you were going a little snakey there Mike. :toothy10:

That skin will make some great winter boot laces that won't freeze up in the cold.

I ran over my first garter snake of the season last Saturday with the old 3/4 ton Chebby. Looked like about a 2 to 2 1/2 footer. Little buggers like to dig down next to my wood basement walls and nest there. I'm not really a snake fan. :angry7:

Remember now Memike like my Grandpa told me. :geek:
If your going to kill something make sure it's something you want to eat!
Or at least make a belt out of it!:toothy10::toothy10:

Good Shot! The squirrles are thanking you!!!

Memike, I hate to sound all preachy and PETA-like, especially since you did not enjoy doing it, but many snakes mate for life. If you kill one you are killing scores of them because you just killed a mating pair and all their potential descendents. Nature can be cruel and may cost you some squirrels but you really should not interfere. Too many squirrels sucks too. You have to take action if you find a dangerous species establishing itself on your property but you should leave the harmless ones alone. Just my two cents worth.

Damn Mike! A website I just looked at says you've got 42 different species of snakes in Arkansas - 6 of them are poisonous!
As much as I dislike snakes I think I may just only drive through Arkansas with the doors locked and the windows up.
Years ago my 'ex' and I were going to buy a brand new house that was right next to a wilderness area. One of the existing homeowners was telling us how they found a baby rattlesnake in their garage the week previous. I told them any loud noise they might hear after we moved in would be my Ithaca 12-guage getting rid of an unwanted 'guest' in the yard.

If that thing was on my property.... there wouldnt be anything left of it to take pictures of....

just killed a copperhead 2-weeks ago. i had been cleaning my fence line out & fixing to use the weed eater. my dog went to barking, found a 2-foot copperhead. scared the crap out of me! i killed it with a shovel. i let my neibor
know about it since he was out in his yard, he told me that he had killed a copperhead also the previous day on his patio.

Living here in Arkansas its not the snakes but the scorpions Incant stand evil looking and not afraid,Kevin.

Man if I turned around and that was there I'd do a vertical jump as good as any NBA player, not a snake fan. Luckily we just have the harmless garter snakes, they still make me jump when I don't know they're there though :munky2:

Better than a mountain lion. try stumbling upon one of those while taking out the trash at 5am in the morning. Damn things are 150lbs. And usually hungry:evil:

We have those and bears where I am but I never had the misfortune of running into one and I'd like to keep it that way :-D

I had a pet bull snake for almost 20 years. Used to carry him around in my shirt pocket when he was a baby. Let him ride in my jacket pocket sometimes when I was on my Harley. Also used to carry him inside my coat hanging around my neck. He was probably about 5 feet long when he died.
