Solid Roller camshaft selection those of you running a 408 race application - lobe seperation

i think your current cam is to big already. the cams that you posted are very close to the cam in my 414 W8 and there is no way a Trick Flow head will compare to a W8.

While I agree, I do t think he has any illusions of W8 performance. IMO, the search here is for a better cam than he has with taking advantage of the ports capabilities. Once the overlap and power band are found for his combination he’ll be in good shape.
B3422W5 has a 565 lift cam and runs 10.20's if i remember correctly and close to your race weight.

sometimes less is more.

That’s true

I wasn’t comparing W8 to TF, all I was saying is his heads won’t take advantage of a 670-700 lift camshaft.

I don’t see any head other then 360-1, 360-2, Victors, W8, and W9 that can use a camshaft over 660 lift.

With flow gains thru .700 lift, I’m not seeing any issues with the lifts for the recommended cams.

Not to mention that with the less than ideal 59* lifter bank angle, plus what you lose in the lash, those cams would be lucky to see a net actual .650” valve lift.
