New to Mopar, so forgive me if some of this is dumb. I have a '67 a100 pick up that had an early swap to a slant 225 and has the original 3 on the tree manual 727.

I have too many other projects to make this a big one and just want to get it running and will tinker down the road.

The 225 is pooched, would need a top and bottome end build. My local yard has a 1977 camper van with 177KM and a 360 plus a couple of what look like 1992 318 magnums (unknown KMs). I am leaning toward the 360 because it has known mileage.

I understand that these motors will bolt up to the existing 727, but are there any other considerations? emissions on the 318s? spline counts the same? motor mounts the same? other considerations?

Thanks

727s are not manual transmissions, they are automatics... you need to figure out what you really have there.
Regardless, there is no slant 6 transmission or bellhousing that will bolt up to a V8. Big blocks, small blocks (both LA and Magnum) and slant 6s all have different trans. to block bolt patterns.

Oh dear, I had thought I read that somewhere and had been working on that assumption. Looking at my plate now it says: 3 SPD NP A-74S.
I like the idea of keeping the transmission and 3 on the tree, but it looks like the easiest approach would be to pull something with a complete engine and transmission - that van 360 will likely be too long for the a100. Back to the scrap yead to look for something else I guess.

Yes, it does have that. I've built and overbuilt Land Crusiers and am wrapping up a 3 year complete driveline build before I start in on this one. Not sure I have it in me to do much more than the minimum to get this one on the road for now. I will pull the block in the coming days, do a pre-clean and then send it over to the machine shop. I really liked the idea of dropping in the 360, but Whitehorse, Yukon where I live is small and there are not a lot of options - finding a short 727 to mate the 360 will be tough and I know that existing trans will be too long for my 90" WB a100.

I'll have the shop bore over 45 and drop a thou off the deck. If there is $ left will have them get a performance angle on the valves and if I manage to find some time this winter while that's going on will do some light smoothing/porting, and a cam for Christmas maybe :). At least the body work on this one is easy - mostly flat panels.
