Hi all,
noob here!

I am helping out a buddy (Marshman) who has no internet access.

He is building a 340 for street, circuit and hill climbs. Target 450hp at the wheels from an engine that will love to rev. There are performance cranks available for 340's in Australia but, for the most part, they are stroker cranks.

the preference is to stick with a stock 340 crank, but lighter/better/stronger than factory crank.
(Please forgive my terminology. Marshman is an expert engine builder. I am not!)

Does anyone know if Scat/ Eagle or others make a performance stock crank.
Any guesses on price and looking for a west coast parts vendor.

appreciate any suggestions
thanks

Mopar makes a stock forged unit as do a few others. Still in the $600+ range though.

Saw some on Ebay a while back but they needed the 8 bolt type hemi flexplate and larger t convertor bolts which he will want anyway, unless it is a sticK?

thanks
I did search Mopar.
they had 3.58" and 4.00" stroke forged steel and h/duty cast cranks.

isnt the 340 standard stroke 3.31"?

Yes it is 3.31. I have a good used 340 crank, would need to be turned but has never been machined. it is for sale if intrested.

Callies Dragonslayer. You wont see them in most of the sales brochures, but they do offer them. For a 550+ crank hp high reving engine, I wouldnt use anything Scat or Eagle, or Ohio Crankshaft...

thanks djw...i will ask

Callies Dragonslayer - any more info please moper?

Normally I get my Callies stuf thru Mancini Racing. I havent tried to get a 3.310 stroke crank before. So I figured I'd call Callies. They dont get much call for the stock stroke stuff, so there's a long lead time, but I was told about $1000 for the Dragonslayer version. They had a number for the last dealer that ordered some from them in VA. They also have the Magnum level cranks at $2000, and Crower has a billet for $2800 or so. The Crower can go thru Flatlander Racing (website..I've never used them) Your suppliers may have better pricing too. These are simply "racer net" meaning the average Joe..not discounted. Just research what you want. The Dragonslayer will hold upwards of 650hp pretty easy. The Crower should be able to go well past 1000 safely. The typical $280-$350 cast cranks should be avoided IMO, and a factory forged isnt going to be that great at that level either. The cast ones do a great job, but what you're asking IMO is a little too much for them.

Too bad you weren't closer. I have a 'barely used' Kelloge crank that would stand up to an earthquake. Came with an ancient set of 'Hamburger' diesel rods. Phew!

thanks for the responses guys
apparently the Dragonslayers have a 3.31 stroke but big end bearings are 2.500" and he needs (wants?) stock which is 2.125.

lenweiler - he's prolly going to have to get one out of the US anyway, so Canada is not out of the equation. Tell me more about this kelloge???

thanks again for the replies
cheers
Ben

These were the cranks to use before the advent of all the new ones out there. The filets are 'full groove', unlike the stock stuff. The crank made 2 passes apparently and the rod bearing was spun. They shut it down before any real damage was done. It was checked for straightness, crack checked and then repaired. The rods are now .010" under and the mains are standard. A really nice crank. And yes. it has an 8 bolt flange.
