Speeding Ticket

-
if you talk to the DA it is possible you could get it lowered. my friend got a highway racing ticket in his car and he had no exhaust he told the DA and besides that he had a clean record so the DA got him a loud exhaust ticket, man he got off easy, i wish i woulda know i could fight a ticket, i woulda fought my exibition driving ticket oct 05, the cop didnt see me burn out he just heard it

but you should just pay it if, i mean all the evidence points to you, no other cars. its up to you

i do gotta agree with 340mopar, people do need to take resonsibities for there actions

I don't know the laws in your locality, but here in southern Ohio you can go to court and possibly beat a speeding ticket. The only catch is that even if you are found totally innocent you have to pay "court costs", which is only about $20.00 less than the ticket. So unless you're right up against the points ceiling on your driver's license, I wouldn't bother. It's not worth taking a day off work and all the aggrevation just to avoid paying $20.00 or so, which is the difference between the fine and the "court costs". That being said, I drive too damn fast on a constant basis, and have not had a speeding ticket since 1985. I don't know why, other than I'm constantly looking for the lurking cop and have been NICE to the officer the few times I actually got pulled over and they let me go with a warning.

I would look at the ticket and if he put down that it was busy traffic wise then I would go with (how did he know he clock you or someone else driving by) or was you just convenient. And do you have and prior convictions for speeding. If not that would help the case. And that just shows your not a repeat speeder. Those radar guns are not perfect nor is the officer.

I got caught doing a burnout once and the sheriff was sitting right behind me! I mean it was smoking bad. When he hit the lights I could barely see them through the smoke. I didn't notice he was behind me because he came out of a side street. Well he pulled me over ran everything through the system and then let me go! But before he let me go he gave me a lecture and then said "Nice car!" I thought I was going to jail or loose my license.

first of all i wanted to say i have done a lot and i mean a lot of stupid things in my life :evil2: . i have gotten a couple of tickets for wrecking my car and also for speeding. every time i went to court i made a deal with the PA (which meant that i paid a fine, but it stayed off of my record.) Now that being said if i screwed the pooch i accepted responsibitly for my actions. You want to blame the cop and the insurance company for you speeding, fine that's your right. but i also have the right to tell your to suck it up and accept responsibilty for your actions. because if you don't you'll never become a man.

Ok I was going to stay out of this one but I will toss in my two cents. I agree with the Hellion. The fact you got a speeding ticket is your own fault. You know the area and how fast you were going and admitted to being guilty as %#$#! The idea that some of you have that Insurance companies pay for radar guns and that the ins co, police and courts are working together to generate revenue is just retarded. The facts are that police officers have a job to do and unfortunatly that sometimes means writting tickets for speeders and arresting people that commit crimes. If there is a hot area where people speed all the time the citizens call and complain, then the Chief gets on the officers to go down there and write tickets so that the complaints will stop and decrease the chances of some little kid getting hit! The police have nothing to due with ins companies. Sometimes we all just drive to fast and have to pay the price. Most officers will even tell you how to avoid points on your licence or reduce the charge to avoid your insurance from going up and to help you out. Unless of course you were a jerk to him when he stopped you. Hey lets be responsible for our actions here. Ok that being said, in my area NYS if you get a ticket if you plead NOT Guilty and request to speak with the officer, they will usually reduce the charge to avoid the points. Sometimes there is a prosecutor that does it like a DA and they will do the same in a busy court. You pay a fine but reduce the points. Sometimes as in your case the points are high becuase of your speed and then you may take a defensive driving class to get them off your record. Most ins co also overlook one violation on your record. The chances of beating a seasoned officer in court who is trained to testify, certified in radar which they all have to be to use it, and with a radar that is required and maintained by the department is very low. At that point so are your chanses that a judge will go easy on your fine after taking up the time to argue a ticket. You can pay a lawyer to negotiate with the officer or you can do it yourself and save money. The coice is yours! good luck!
