Because of the melt down this post disappeared, I had gotten one responce that said 170lb springs were used.
I need a spring rate that will be stiff enough for the road course but not to jarring for the trips to shows and cruises.
I got the QA1s and the 500lb springs speedway sent me, OH MY GOD!!!
Ive seen smaller springs in commercial trucks!
I can return the unused springs for others of the correct rating.
I could use some knowledge here.

Really, no one to help?

110 lbs/in was the 340 leaf rate.

130 lbs/in was the 383 and station wagon rate

160-180 is a super stock spring.

Per Direct Connection bibles in front of me.

Auto X thanks.
over the next month I will get the parts all in place and post pics.
I have to rebuild the upper shock mount cross member which is wrong in so many ways, and I am determined to leave myself a path through the maze of links and sway bars for full length exhaust out the rear.
Thanks again for the info.

WOW, you've got a real problem there. you want to spin the hotrod around a road course and have a nice ride to and from shows. that's like completly two different animals. i'll assume you called someone up and got their suggested part # and now you think they are to big looking and don't want to use them, is that corect?

Bob,
sorry I was out of the loop for the past week.
How they look is the not the issue, its the 500Lb rating that is the issue.
When I get the car back on the ground and load it with the appropriate amount of weight in the trunk, I will take a look at the ride height and take AutoX's info and call speedway back and exchange the springs for the correct ones.

i had 150 pound qa1's on my dart for a while. they were perfect with just me in the car. but when loaded for a trip and the family in the car they wern't heavy enough. went to 200 pound springs and they were a lot better but the car still sags quite a bit with everything in it (4 of us,a tool box, floor jack, spare tire, extra parts, chairs, stroller, pota crib and stuff to last us on a 5 day trip.) so now i'm gonna give a vari-rate spring a try. 175/350 pound spring. i think they will give me what i want. i know for a fact the 175 will be good with an empty car and the 350 should be good when all loaded with the family. we will see soon enough i guess.. :)

with the different springs i have tried it seems easier (to me anyway) to get a heavier spring( within reason. 500 pounders sound way too much to me..) and go a click looser on the shock. it gives me a good ride but still handles great on the street. i'm sure if i was going pure track i would probably want heavier springs and the shocks set stiffer but my car is a family street car so thats how i set it up.

what are you running for a rear suspension? i have the street lynx from rms. not sure if that changes what you would need spring wise ?

A body,
Im running a similar set up to mad darts with a 4 link and a NASCAR style sway bar. My goal is to get it back on the ground by the end of the month.

I lied to Chassis Engineering; Told Clayton that car weighed 3400. I was wrong. The 180, with 17" , set the Duster 3" too high. Probably need 125. But at least, after my fault, they will swap for free. If I can ever get the car off the jackstands.
