just got a 1971 demon with a 69 340. heads were reworked new cam lifters and rockers. Just fired for the first time and has a squeal kinda like a fan belt. Shut it down and removed all of the belts. Still has the same sound. Any ideas? I have not fired a new motor for many years. Help!!!

Lets hope it's a vacuum leak, because anything else with a new top end would make me really nervous.

last time i herd a squel in a engine it was a rolled rod bearing it was not good

The noise could be as simple as, having the wrong bolt(too long) in the water pump and it's contacting the Timing Chain.

Take one bolt out at a time, and then install it back in, to keep from making a water leak.
When you find the one that has been ground on..........find a shorter one.

Wooops

Was a huge vacum leak. Thanks for the input guys.
:violent1: :D
