You've done a great job on your car. Keep the pics coming
the 68 will always be a street car...
i'll have the 3.91 chunk and picked up a 3.55 chunk for the long trips...
Do you have aftermarket axles?
That was my plan too DUDE! Then I got to thinking about how heavy those things are,and me with M.S. Good luck lifting it in place I thought...
Cheapest solution I can come up with is 3:91 gear all the time, and an 833 o.d manual. EVERYTHING else is $3000 and up. Talk about an exclusive market. Basically you only get an aftermarket o.d gear and save money on gas if you already can afford the gas.
Assbackwards as usual.

i like that bill!
ok so today went thru hell trying to get some 8.75 gaskets... parts stores dont list them in the computer under normal cars so it was fun to say the least...
But
i did get the collector extensions welded up and painted... i made them 12" based off of the .org pic... i will test length and dia on another night...
Been sealing diffs for years with just RTV. never had an issue, everything from 8.75's to 9's to 9.25's to 9.75's not so much as a single drip.
I drove a '71 LTD 429CID with a spool in a 9 inch with stock axles not an issue other than eating tires like there was no tomorrow. David
I am terribly sorry Bill for stepping on your toes. I didn't realize your second hand information was sufficient, and couldn't be backed up by another with actual experience. I have to say this is the first time I have been flamed for trying to prove someone correct. David
you guys are funny....
anyways picked up the 4.88's and assembling today after work!
That's going to help your 60-foot time and through the middle. Let us know when you have had a chance to test it; I'm going to be curious about the help to your "short time." A worthwhile change, for sure...
You go, guy!!!!
Good for you young gun! Im real glad to see such enthusiasm in spite of this hobbies horrible expense. And I wish you were here with me. I need your help!
Bill forgive me. I'm working very long hours on a night shift ( not the best excuse lol) and I took your post the wrong way.
805, Sorry to interrupt your thread. You are doing great work, and I'm following it intently. Keep it up Bro. David
