Starting a BB Duster project

I bought a reproduction Air Grabber setup. I think I'll run the car this way without the hood.

Also got most of the wiring finished up and the Pro Dash installed.

I've been working on putting the front sheet metal back on the car. Had to take it apart and put it together a few times before everything lined up properly. Not sure how they built these cars in an hour on the assembly line! It takes me 20 hours just to hang the front sheet metal.

You're gonna run hoodless? That's just not gonna look right man. That thing is a masterpiece. It needs to look finished. I love the dash. Talk about high tech.

I figured out that I had to to put the rivnuts on the top of the spoiler so the screws could be accessed from below. The first time I put it together I had the rivnuts in the brackets and the screws came in from the top. But with the spoiler on I couldn't install the bumper. And with the bumper on I couldn't install the spoiler. Stuff you figure out the hard way......

LOL , a lot of that myself . My fastback was taken apart by some one else , with no baskets that came with it . Thinking of putting a spoiler by Randy on it too------
Not sure but think it just screws/bolts to the front splash pan . ???

I have a spoiler by Randy but the design he has for the mounts is super flimsy. I figured that it would tear off the car and I'd drive over it the first time I hit 100mph. So I welded four tabs to the lower radiator support. Now the spoiler mounts to the four tabs and the spoiler is very rigid. The trick is that the bolts have to go in from the bottom since once the grille is in and the bumper is on you can't access the space above the spoiler.

Hey Andy, If I recall, you're running caltracs and monos. What rear shocks are you running with them?

I think that was covered several pages back. I have Calvert shocks on custom built lower shock plates. I didn't like how Calvert designed their shock plates so I fabricated a new set. I like my design better since the lower shock mount is a double shear design rather than a stud mount.

Here it is with all the parts installed. Car is ready to fire up and pull out of the shop for final tuning. Still need to install the dash and windshield then she'll be ready to drive. I found a set of factory bucket seats on Craigslist so I installed the passenger seat.

Andy, do you have any swiss ancestry? Judging by the level of perfection you are putting into everything. Just askin' :)

Wow just read thru this build. Top notch quality. Are you going to bring the duster to Mopar National Woodburn next year? Like to see it scream down dragstrip check it out in person. Dustin

quick question Andy plz how long are the U-bolts you used with your custom shock plate brackets? Thanks sabre67

I finished up the majority of the front sheet metal assembly. I had to do some fab work in the grill support area due to the custom core support in the car. But I think it all came out pretty good in the end.

I also got the B body 3 inch exhaust tips mounted up in the rear. This turned into a project of its own since nothing is stock back there. But I figured out how to fabricate some special brackets to hang everything from so it came out okay.

LOL , guess that explains my life : my grandpaw , known as "dado" in Irish was from Ireland .
His little brother was known as Billy , sometimes Bonney , some time McCarty , sometimes -----on and on .
We make it hard on ourselves -------------
Not sure about grandpaw or great grandpaw, I didn't get a copy of the history.
