I am looking to get a new stereo for my 1967 Barracuda. I would like to keep the dash intact with no cutting but get all the new stuff such and ipod control, blutooth, remote cd changer and possibly satellite radio. Is there such a system out there?

Forget the CD's....they're about as relevant as 8tracks. Convert it all to MP3.

How about MP3 loaded cds ?
I have a little black jewel case ( like a ladies compact ) that holds only 2 discs. It disappears above the sunvisor.
Never counted the total tunes, more than enough for me.
I do have a USB port in the glovebox. Its only been used for phone charging and a little snake light.

By the way.. I found the cast and chromed brackets available for Bazooka base cannon seem to suit the cars appearence very well. A touch of chrome in the trunk :)

I bought an Alpine deck with a remote. Zip tied it under the drivers seat and ran an ipod cord up through the back of the seat. When I'm driving I connect the ipod up and point the remote toward the floor to change songs. When I get out of the car, I grab the ipod or throw it in the glove box and push the connector back into the seat so no one can see it if they're looking in. As far as anyone looking in the car can see, it just has an AM radio and that's it.

It's kind of irritating not being able to just change channels on the dash, but after getting my quarter window busted out, steering column cover broken and my deck stolen....I'd much rather just deal with the setup I have now.

Great suggestions guys. I can do without the CD's and the head unit maud'dib15 suggested looks great. If I go with an under seat unit like this:

What do I do about the hole in the dash? Put an old AM in there? Cover it up? I saw a guy who had his stereo in a custome console and had switches in the holes where the old stereo was but I only have 1 extra switch I could add for fog/ driving lights. Any ideas?

I say stick your AM radio in the hole. Nothing fits better in the dash than that. It's what I did at least.

There's also radio delete plates if you're going for the racer type look.

There were a couple of vendors in Carlisle that that take the standard equipment radio, in my case a thumb wheel, and bring it into the 21st century. Rework the interior, ad FM, ad an MP3 port. I think I saw someone on this thread run an iPOD port to the cigarette lighter hole in the ashtray.

Wow that would be awesome to have an original reworked, any idea who the vendor is?

Yeah, it's for a Dart, but they all look the same.
I want one for my cuda, just gotta get the money.

I can't bring myself to cut the dash, and mounting it underneath is just tacky IMO, so I'm plan on going with that one. It has everything you need. Remote control, 4 preamp outs, USB and SD remote input, and the mini-jack on the front so any Ipod or MP3 can be hooked to it. That does everything I could need and more! BTW, Crutchfield has it for a lower price here: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_068RSM1BG3/Retrosound-Model-One-Black.html#overview-tab and they will include the Dart type faceplate/knob kit for free! http://www.crutchfield.com/p_0686769DRT/Retrosound-Faceplate-and-Knob-Kit.html

BTW, Crutchfield has the basic RC-900C by RetroSound for $159.99. It doesn't have nearly the features that the Model One does but you can still plug an Ipod/MP3 into it and not cut your dash. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_068RC900C/RetroSound-Classic-Model-RC-900C.html

I can tell you that Crutchfield customer service rocks. I have used them for over 15 years and, if there is ever a problem, they will take care of you.

This looks like a great unit but it would still require cutting my dash. So it's either under the seat or a refirbished origional unit. Thanks for all the help guys.
PACuda59- if you happen to remember the name of the vendor let me know please.

My dash has a bar between the part that shows the channel and the push buttons. It looks like the stereo does not have provision for this. Also, the push button portion is narrower than the "face" part.

You do NOT Have to cut the dash. Left my 69 Dash completely intact with the factory AM radio. In the glove box, AM FM CD. Ipod jack would be nice..

So I have made the decision to go with a rebuilt stock radio. Now the big question is... does anyone have one for sale? I will put this in the wanted section but thought I would ask here first.
