Stop in for a cup of coffee

Morning everyone. Jared and Lou on Carfix show are redoing a front suspension on a 65 Barracuda. They clamped vise grips on the torsion bars and pounded on them. Thought that was no - no!!

That is a no-no...

It goes to show you how much these cable shows know.... Nothing...

Yup. Heavy peice of scrap leather on the original /6 bars. It was a desert car - they came out easy.

Have I ever mentioned that its a mistake to paint the hex ends?
Don't ask me how I know this...

How do you know this???

Well got the dash in and all hooked up....drum roll...everything worked and it does look nice!! Pics to follow.
Got the new front windshield rubber and windshield in NO problems.
I'm just glad my buddy who knew how to do the new windshield rubber with tools was there because we had no idea.
Going to let the windshield sit for a few days and make any adjustments as needed. Then we'll put the trim back on.
Tomorrow we'll put the glove box, odds and ends on the dash and put the front seats back in.
Almost done with this project.

Took the Duster for a short drive earlier. Helped Rodney pull his back glass so he can put the trim back on. Just a little 'order of assembly' oversight.

Well strike me as wrong. I just thought the bolt broke off, it didn’t, it pulled itself out of the threads it appears. Can’t seem to locate the bolt but the hole has no threads left...

The corner of the block is busted. I stuck the piece back in but it’s toast

Man, that sucks...

maybe you should have used more attachment points to distribute the load...

Maybe try this first.

That's different. back glass on the 67 is glass first, trim 2nd. Same for 68-9 but I think clips may need to go in first.

That's why I can't understand why people re-use old leaf springs and torsion bars on their restos.... :realcrazy:
Depends on their condition. Dave's still using original formula S springs on his '66 goldfish - he must have had at 50 autocrosses on that car.

edit: This Dave and this goldfish. Think he goes by CPDave here.
