Seems like Columbus did not want what he found to be a new continent (or little did he know two!)
Columbus Discovered the New World … So Why Isn't America Named After Him?
No sir. What we learned is Christopher Columbus made errors that embarrassed him and cost him his sponsor.
""Columbus maintained until his dying day that the new land he had discovered was, in fact, Asia. In contrast, Vespucci was one of the first, if not the first explorer to declare that the New World was an entirely newfound entity (at least to the Europeans).""
Ben Franklin wanted the national bird/symbol to be the turkey.
Franklin Roosevelt tried to change the date of Thanksgiving.
Ronald Regan allowed prescription drug mfgrs to advertise their products directly to us consumers ( "Ask your doctor about ___" ).
Everyone makes mistakes. We don't recognize and/or celebrate those.

Frank. It got to a point a year or two ago that I knew it could be any decline could be it. But she did pretty good. Was with me last summer and really minimal problems for an old dog. Used vitually no pain meds, could walk and do steps right up to the end. I was giving her pentosin4 for the joints and even as recent as Wed she could almost make the leap from the sidewalk onto the wagoneers back seat by herself. Saturday's walks were really slow and she'd been losing apetite for about 3 weeks now. each week we'ld go in and get a boost with a shot of some sort of steroid but yesterday she was having trouble breathing and couldn't lay down with comfort.

Sounds like she lived a full life and it was her time. She's in a better place.

'fraid her clock finally ran out. She did great right up to the end.
Not used to the change here yet. My schedule will be different now. May not be on here as much.
Sad to hear that you lost a loved one. We lost Nikita ( a husky ) about a year ago. It's mighty cold here this morn'. She would have enjoyed this mornings walk a heck of a lot more than I would.
So maybe it gets a little easier with time, or maybe I found a small self serving bright side?
Sincere condolences to you.

So sad but she thanks you for being a strong master.
Strong dog Dave.
Inside and out.
Past Monday - still a snow dog.

and her favorite place to spend the day. In the summer she'd go under and lay on the blue stone..

Same here. But I still went out in the backyard this morning - same as always. Haven't gone for a walk yet. I probably should even though its bitter cold.

It will most certainly be easier on my schedule and planning. There's no denying that.

Sorry. :( RIP

Crystal clear out there and a blistering 48*. Looks like spring time wind conditions will arrive soon I can live just fine without that.

I said I wouldn't have another, even sold the dog house. Recently there is a 3 yr. old female husky that needs a good home. Thing is... This dog is missing a rear leg. Description says "Doesn't slow her down much". Wife saw this on Facebook yard sale, showed to me and said "Looks a lot like Niki doesn't she?". Sure do wish we hadn't seen it. Can't pull the trigger but can't forget about it either.

Yup, I hear ya on that.

A friend of mine had a 3 legged dog, aptly his name was Tripod. It didn't seem to affect his lifestyle much, he ate, played, and marked his territory with the best of them.

Definetly our last pup. As much as i like having a dog, i wish she wasnt a runner. Looks for oppurtunities to escape.more of a concern now as she’s deaf.
If she would stay by my side and not run off,I’d have her here in the shop with me.
Follws her nose.

My sister had an Aussie that liked to escape. Put the tailgate on the truck down, drive around the neighborhood till we found him, park the truck, he jump in and home we go.
