Stop in for a cup of coffee

What a lousy day today was. Got the tooth drilled and did the root canal only to find that the crack goes all they way down to the root. The tooth can’t be saved. Now it is temporarily filled and I have to go back to the oral surgeon and get it removed.

In the meantime, it hurts like hell.

Why the fudge didn’t they just pull it there?!

I agree, all this half-assery is still making them money, and you get to suffer more.
I had a molar pulled years ago, in lieu of a root canal. Was only one tooth,i have 3 or 4 more.

Oh my gosh, I am a decent cook when I want to be, but home cooking by a mother who has been cooking for her family her whole life with love, and has her secret little touches, you just can't compare. Day 2 of my cousin's wife's Italian care package and it is so good I am saying cuss words. Holy F- this is some good garlic bread!!

The difference here is that it is a cracked tooth.

My main Dentist wouldn’t attempt either the root canal or the extraction because of the risk of it becoming a more complicated procedure than he is trained to do and it required a specialist. The oral surgeon didn’t remove it because he believed the tooth didn’t require extraction and could be saved by an endontic specialist. Unfortunately after they finished the root canal, they found that the crack ran down below the enamel and then back out through the root below the gum line. This could only be seen after the root canal was done.

The docs aren’t to blame, they all did the right things for the right reasons. I am just a victim of an unfortunate circumstance that is causing me to have to jump through all these hoops.

If my main dentist had tried to extract the tooth, it would have fractured and I would have needed an emergency procedure by the oral surgeon to complete the job. If he had tried to do the root canal, he would have found exactly what they found today and I would still have needed to go to the oral surgeon.

So sorry Dave for going through this. It just shows all of us that health issues can come up without warning and not be easy to deal with.

WTF you asked them to pull it weeks ago? You have far more patience than me my friend. I would likely have come unhinged! You have been in pain for weeks. Nothing worse than a red neck Marine with a tooth ache I assure you!

I can’t be angry at them for doing the right things for the right reasons. I assessed what they were saying and determined that they were correct in their recommendations. They are all also at the very top of their profession in terms of expertise and experience.

Anger is a mind killer and destroys logic. As much as I would like to kick some asses that I could find to blame for all of this, there aren’t any. I cannot let my objectivity and logic be destroyed by being angry without basis. Bad decisions are made that way.

Haven't talked to the adjuster yet, but got estimate late today by email and they want to total the Magnum. Problem is it said they stopped estimate because total value was reached. It looks pretty complete from what I saw wrong. I was hoping for a thorough inspection so I would know exactly what I was getting into if I want to fix it myself.

Ask for a full estimate

When i got hurt at work,in pain but being taken care of i was still cracking jokes. Ambulance attendants have to deal with a lot of crap, just like any medical professional snd if they can laugh at my expense the maybe it makes their day. Having attitude while being treated wont quite get you as good of service as someone that may be pleasant or at least cooperative.

Dave, you have proven time and time again to be a patient man.

You are totally right of course but holy smokes! After spending several days in a semi private room with thirty some other banged up Marines, I have a classic case of white coat syndrome! Show me a white coat and BP amps and anxiety runs amuck! Hah!

Well, a few Coor’s Extra Gold fighting the pain and I can see straight again. I really wish I could take NSAIDs like ibuprofen, but I can’t. They cause severe gastric irritation like I swallowed a handful of rusty razor blades...and I won’t take opiates.

Hopefully it will be better tomorrow. I also have a full day at work and need to drive 150 miles ferrying samples around in the afternoon. I’d at least like to be able to focus on driving on the interstate.

Did i ever mention i hate laminate flooring?
I hate laminate flooring.
Of course the little woman handles the boxes of flooring like they are animal feed. Out of 1200 square feet there is probably 200 that is damaged. We still have enough, but im disappointed in how fragile this stuff is. I have done 5 houses with different stuff and this is the worst.
One i did had something like a strip of adhesive, it was nice to work with.

Try apple cider vinegar! My doctor started me to doing it last week during the gall bladder stuff. All the pain killers were doing were upsetting my stomach and making everything worse. 11 days of that stuff and I’m having energy like I was 21 again. Maybe it’s a placebo effect but I don’t care, I should have listened to @memike years ago

When I worked shipping and recieiving, we’d get in a truck load daily of the crap, 1/3 of which would be broken in the packaging before we even broke the seals on the truck. Hate that crap

Nope. It’s total BS.

It might just very well be. All I know is, it was literally the only thing that made that pain manageable without upsetting my stomache. The Norco and Hydrocodones did squat but make me throw up.

Speaking of which, I had my 2nd scan on my gall bladder, there’s some evidence of trauma but it should heal and as long as I’m not getting pain, doc’s confident I don’t need further tests or treatments

The placebo effect is over 30% in all clinical pain models including bunionectomy (chiseling bones off on your feet) and dental molar extraction. The opioids making your stomach upset are a known side effect.

Well it works one way or the other lol

As long as you believe it does, keep doing it. The body has amazing abilities that begin in the mind.

I once “cured” my wife’s severe endometriosis pain for over a year by giving her a once per month generic multi-vitamin that I told her was a new experimental drug that I was working on in clinical trials specifically designed for her condition.

Eventually, the placebo effect wore off.

She wasn’t mad, just surprised that her mind was able to overcome her body like that.

If you believe in what you are doing, keep doing it.

Chillin.
Tv is on, but bluetooth music to my surround sound system. A pleasant evening. One or two evenings of flooring then its done.
