Stop in for a cup of coffee

Everybody watching tv may be?
I just got back from my neighbors house with the ‘70 Chevelle SS 502 stroker big block. He’s having an overheat issue and the car isn’t tuned right. He’s in over his head so I figured I would help.

The car is a beauty though, very well done.

Just check the threads and gasket to see if they match the old filter... That's what we were trained to do when I worked at Oil Express in high school... Put your finger in the thread hole and see how far it goes in, then put it in the hole of the new filter and see if it goes in the same depth... (that's what she said...:D)

Then put the two filters bottom to bottom and see if the gaskets are the same diameter...

If it passes those two tests, it will work... :D :steering:
So, bottom to bottom and fingers in the holes. Got it.

Give it more timing. Rat motors do like their timing.

Actually, for oil filters. they have cross reference charts. No fingering required. :poke: I used an STP 3614 from AZ on the Neon. I got the mower filter at Advance today. Purolator L10241. It's their 'classic' (base) level. But still supposed to be better than the STP, which I believe is currently being made by FRAM.

Oh it’s deeper than that. The timing is off, the carb isn’t dialed in right and the fan/shroud isn’t set up properly either. Add to that the fact he just wants to cruise it instead of really running it, and it’s a mess. I could smell the raw fuel coming from it at idle from 100’ away. He keeps starting it and running for a minute or two and shutting it down, at least a dozen times this evening.. I’m sure the plugs are completely fouled now.

I hooked him up with my speed shop guy who is a deep Chevy expert to try to get it straightened out.

You silver tongued devil you.... :D

Giggity, giggity... :p

Just make sure you keep track of the holes and which one you put your finger in.... :p

There is so much interest in going back to the Moon these days...but they aren’t fooling anyone.

They just want to recover the Mopar NASA left there 50 years ago.

And people think Elon Musk was the first one to put a car into space....Pfffft!

I love it, a 68 Formula S fastback in the same color as mine...

The finger in the hole trick was what we used as a double check after looking up the correct filter number... :D

Nice!

This car is exceptionally well done, but like always...the devil is in the details if you want it to run right. It’s only got 1500 miles on the drivetrain.

Here's a shot of mine in its heyday.... :steering:

(the guy taking the picture snapped it too early and didn't get the full smoke cloud)... :BangHead:

Cool! Maybe you need a poster of the Cuda on the moon image to hang somewhere...hmmmm...

I told you that it was just like mine...

Mine had the ralley rims when I bought it off the guy in Tampa back in '88, but could have had the steel rims like in your picture from the factory...

It's the basic 340 Formula S with just buckets, and console...

Manual steering and brakes, standard gauges, no A/C... Just a stripped down 340 S...

I ordered a Friday night pizza. What arrived was a mess. I bitched and they are sending another one. Let’s see if they get it right this time.

WTF did the delivery guy do, drop it and kick it up the driveway?

Hit the brakes, pizza slid off the seat.
Delivered a pizza to a guy that was ****-faced, trying to count money to pay me,turned it sideways and tucked under his arm. Never called to *****.
But im sure he was hungry.

I can tolerate a lot of things, but **** up my Pizza and it’s full game-on!

If the replacement isn’t right, the pics of this one will get plastered all over the internet and their Facebook page!

Well, I got the new pizza and they made it right. I gave them the previous one back per their request. When I opened the box to show what I had gotten before, the new driver just stood there with her mouth hanging open. Then she apologized profusely.

I’m ok with it, they made it right and this one looks good.
